5.0 smokes out of one pipe??
I bought a 93 gt recently and the guy said it has been sitting for a year and a half, he doesnt know much about the car besides that it runs, so i got it and did all the necessary things i thought to crank the car. I finally get it crunk and it smokes out of the drivers side exhaust it is white smoke i guess sort of whiteish greyish, the car is idling up really loud and the smoke is coming out pretty hard but my buddy was playing with the vaccum lines or something and it slowed down the idle big time. You can tell the car has a cam but when the car was idling normal it wasnt smoking as bad but stillsmoking constantly. anyone got any ideas what it could be????
also when you push the clutch in there is no tension on it? it just goes str8 to the floor? anyone know what cable that is that could be loose?

the white smoke usually means a blown head gasket. check your plugs if there wet then you need a new head gasket. and just because it idles rough dosent mean it has a cam. it means that one or more of the cylinders are missing and most likely its the head gasket.

also replace any bad vacume lines... ya'll probly want to check those head gaskets...
it may have OLD gas... i would drain to gas tank... Or burn it out... be better to drain it if ya have the time... and put some higher octane it it to clean it out (or octane booster) and also throw in some fuel injector cleaner...
idk what to tell ya bout the clutch though... it may supposed to be like that... when i swapped my clutch it did that but 10min after driving stiffened up... i think they have something that somehow tensions the clutch cable by itself... idk tho...

hey thanks fellows, it is smoking pretty bad out of the drivers side exhaust, i just had the chance to go back out there and mess with it, one of the vaccum hoses was open i sealed it and it went back to regular idle, but it is still smoking. it has no cam but the motor runs good other than the smoke, i am going to change all the plugs and wires and see what else it has wrong with it. The original owner said something about it may have something to do with the fuel injectors and to put it on the machine and see what code is spits out so that may be an option as well

i could also be that the cat on that side collapsed... i doubt that though... and another guy here w/ me said possibly the intake manifold.... but he's a chevy guy so....

You cant just chekc to see if the gasket is bad unless you pull the heads. What you should do is see if the coolante level is going down fast. cause with a blown head gasket the coolante will be getting sucked into the motor and thats what the white smoke is. But you said its greyish so i would bet its not the head gasket at all cause if it was it would be pure white almost. have you even driven the car yet? I ask this because it sounds like you havent mayeb you should take it out and romp on it a good bit ot see if you can clear it up. might just be alot of carbon or something tha tneeds to be burnout out.

you CAN check if its the head gasket is blown. check the plugs if there wet its blown. look at ur radiator if there is oil floating in the water its blown and when the car is running and the radiator water is bubbling its also blown.

but you should probably drain that tank and put higher octane gas in as well as fuel injector cleaner (like i said earlier)
it could be just that the gas is ****ty

i talked to the original owner today and he said something about the fuel injectors. that when it is on the highway it doesnt smoke but when it is idling or going slow that it would cuz it is flooding or something to that sort. could a fuel injector cuz it to blo smoke out of that one side like that?

if that doesnt work ya'll have to pull each injector out and check them as well well as the manifold around them...(i highly doubt its the manifold)
so you can try to fix it by starting w/ the easiest/cheapest route
A.buy fuel injector cleaner and high octane gas
if it doesnt work... then move on to plan b
B. pull out the injectors 1 by 1 and check em all... fairly easy but it can be a bit tedious
