My 87 with T5, 4.10s and stock motor and misc bs was crossing the line in 4th @97-98 mph about 5500-5600 I guess. My shift light was set at 5200 and it goes a bit further after that. I wonder what would change if I could have ever gotten off the line better than 2.4 60ft.

3.73 (IMO) are the best all around gear ratio. I like a few other guys would definately shy away from 4.10 or higher for a DD. I guess it would be ok. Eventhough you only average 250 and maybe 300 pushing it mileage wise per week, my thinking again, (IMO) the gas mileage would hurt bad, especially at $3.00 + a gallon.

I had 3.73's in my old truck and loved them, it was a great improvement from stock. I have not done this to my car yet but plan on it soon. My whole thing with this would be if it is a DD what is the overall gas mileage going to be like.

I got to ask out of curiousity guys that have 4.10s what is the gas mileage like - and be honest.

I am a week old mustang owner, but I have 4.10's in my 95. I absolutely love them. It's a 5 speed, and I drive almost 200 miles a day. It runs about 2700 rpm at 70. It seems to really cut out power at 90 for some reason. Since i'm a newbie, I have no idea if thats the gears or something else in the car. I suggest 4.10, from my own experience

I am getting anywhere from 20-23 mpg with my 4.10 and 5 speed. I do drive a lot of highway, but it's a fair mix of city too, when all tanks combined. I check every single tank of gas I run. Just became a habit when I started having to travel so much. Example: I filled up yesterday, took 12.04 gallons to top off and I had 242 miles on the trip meter. Just over 20 mpg. Thats the worst tank so far though. I had been doing 22 and 23. Driving albout 200 miles a day, I fill up almost every other day.
