Moding my Mustang - Would like some feedback as to what you think. . .
I have a 2003 Sonic Blue V6 and i LOVE it but lets be honest, I'm 20 years old and stock just isn't going to work. These are the 1st of the mods i have planned for over the next 6 months. Exhaust - Poss. Magnaflow Dual - Stainless Steel Tips Cold Air Intake Steeda Sport Springs Chrome Bullit 18x9 wheels + tires but not sure what size i should go with? Chrome/Stainless Steel Gas Door Stainless Steel MUSTANG bumper letters I'm also upgrading the headlight bulbs - Sylvania Silverstar; and installing the fog lights. That is everything on the outside, as for the inside. . . Street Glow Neons - Blue Rewiring the stereo speakers and adding a 500 watt 10" audiobahn sub in the trunk. Thats going to knock hard! *Going to try and change all of the factory green color without buying a new gauge packege. If anyone has done this any advise would be great! So what do you guys think as all of this as a starting point? Thanks |

Like the ideas, normally i wouldnt go with chrome Bullitts, but i it might work on sonic blue.... As for changing the gauges, I believe that would require changing face of the gauges out, as i do believe it impractical to change the color of the green plastic, lol. I assume you would change the green to.. blue, all things considered thats where you are going with the rest of it. It apears as though some aftermarket White Faced gauges (you only have to remove the outer gauge bezel, then these replace the current faces, same material and all that jazz) have blue lighting... (but then the gauges are obviousely and notably WHITE and not black) My White Faced Gauges are from MAC and have stock lighting, (green in most places) and that paired with my 35th Aniv. Gauge Bezel look DAMN good.
Otherwise i love Sonic Blue (for a 99+ 0_^)

No performance mods?
I like the mods but I think they will make your car slower... not slow but slower. but decent modifications it will look good ![]() get a GT rear bumper so you have the cut outs for the exhaust ![]()

Nice choices are you going for more of a show car at the start and than maybe put some more performance mods onto it or just gonna stay with show? You have any other rims ya looking at besides the Chrome Bullits?

I would like the outcome of the car to be a V6 Show Car with BALLS!
What type of performance mods should i be looking at to do? I haven't really looked at any other rims other than the bullits...although i have looked at the Saleen. Why do you think there is a better pair of rims that I could put on this car? |

I definitely wouldn't recommend getting MagnaFlow on a V6 it'll sound bad. On a V6 you should either get a GT take-off system or Mac system. Check out www.mustangexhaust.com they have all kinds of sound clips. That might help you.

Also for your 18 x 9 wheels I'd up the gear ratio to compensate for the wheel weight addage. maybe 3.55 or 3.73. and a traction lock for LSD ( limited slip differential. If it's manual geta lighter fly wheel and a lighter drive shaft to make more revolutions. you can find the Drive shaft, gears and t lok ( plus things like a chip and speedo recal for the 99+ stangs which is mandatory for the gear sap to get the speedometer reading correctly) on www.gefracing.com , excellent prices. I'd refer Mustang Tuning but I don't think they have performance mods such as these for the V6, (Hope not to draw sales away guys ) :\ that would be a hell of a start and defiently if you do it all at once, the car will move. ![]()

Depending on your finances, a V-6 is worth modding. After about $1,500 into it myself, I finally realized it would never be a V-8, so I bought a used Cobra.
However, I had a Silver '02 auto V-6 that was quick. It had the following mods and I noticed improvements in performance everytime. - Diablosport chip - GT Take-offs w/GT Bumper - MAC CAI - GT Foglights (looks only) Under drive pulleys and 4.10 gears were next on my mod list. The GT Take-offs made the exhaust tone deeper. I have Magnaflow on my V-8, and it is deeper than stock, so I think it would improve the sound, and performance, in your application. The chip is nice, especially with an auto, 2nd gear chirps are cool! I did not care for the hissing of the CAI when the A/C would cycle. I won't put it on my current car. I think the wheel upgrades are worth the money, the other stuff, I don't. Good luck and have fun!

I just put all my mods (bought and sold) in an excel spreadsheet, and it ended up costing me ~3700 to this day for everything on my mods list. It doesn't sound as beautiful as a V8 or have the reputation of one, but it goes, stops, and handles a lot better than a near stock GT. GT guys, I'm not trying to step onto your territory, but rather just giving faith to fellow V6 owners. :toothy2:
