ok so you say gt's go for 8-9k in your area, so 8k + turbo kit (5k at least) full suspension(4k for MM stuff) , TF wheels ($$$ 3k?) and other odds and ends an that is 20k...sorry not 11k for an 11sec. car. And in today's crappy time of selling cars you can find 03/04 cobras for 17-18k. 2-3k in mods and you will easily match what you did to that GT. Will it be as special because it is mostly stock, no, will it have the hard time and effort of building your own car up, no, but it can be done for the same price. It's all about your choice of starting platform and how far you want to take it from stock.

And I am not knocking the Gt's at all either..heck a few weeks back someone posted a link to a comparison of a 2v a 4v and 3v all running 20psi same exhaust, same everything to see how they all stacked up and the 3v actually put down more power, the thing that differed is where the 2 and 3v would go boom from that much boost stock, it cost a lot more to get them to that point, but it's in buying the car cost where mod money is lost on the 4v and saved on the 2v but a 3v is right there in cost with a 4v so yeah.

but for the topic starter, get what you want, any way you go it's going to cost to mod, the V8 has the larger market for mods I feel and as a personal preference a sound that no V6 can or will ever match. Get what makes you happy it's your money.

oh and 00blkstang he wasn't referring to power rating on the 03's being over rated, it's that they as a car(03/04 and apparently all cobras) he feels are nothing special and should not continue to have there 15mins of fame.

I'm not pissed I just don't see why people don't see the potential of a 2 valve and go straight after a Cobra. IMO a mach or GT is just as good with another 6k invested into a turbo. The cobra, for what it is, a low end sports car (compared to a corvette porsche ect.) with much more potential then what it has. It has a forged bottom end and a blower already on it. However most guys simply don't add MORE to it so it becomes nothing more then a 13 second car..

But no, saying that I could get a 11 second car for 11 grand, thats already been offered to me.

The point I was trying to get across though, is when its a Gt, Mach, Cobra even, it doesn't take a whole lot of money to push it up to 600 RWHP.. hell, look at MMR, they push 2v 3v and 4vs to the 8s easily after a built block and a turbo.

And no, even though I dropped a buttload of money into a v6, I sitll don't recommend it. Right now I have nothing but issues, my computer is now junk, my transmission is dead and has to be rebuilt AGAIN and its gotten me where? 12.66? Thats laughable at best. Although, I messed up, and shoulda thrown a turbo on it to begin with, but I for some reason had it in my head that a direct port setup wouldn't be too difficult.. I was wrong.

Everyone seems to think Cobra when you say big horsepower, and it isn't necessarily true, everyone likes the whine of a roots type blower... but how many have heard a turbo spool up on a v8? No, I'm not talking some shitty little Greddy bov or something, I'm talking a screaming turbo that just sounds demented and will eat up the whine of a blower..

And as already stated, yes, it does all come down to a bank roll. I had the money to make a v6 relatively quick... I like it, I guess, and if someones serious about doing it it can be achieved, but they'll spend 20 grand before its all said and done.

Will I be happy once my vortech is on and I'm hanging with relatively stock cobras and knowing I didn't have to pay an extra $8,000 and have my insurance go up, of course I'm going to be happy. Would I be happy if I went the route of buying a cobra, of course I would. In my eyes, and no offense to anyone, but the only 6 worth having and building for high power would be a supra hands down.
Supras are godlike. But FFS they want a large chunk of change for them. I really like them, along with the RX7s...

(Oh and a vortech on a 2v SHOULD get you somewhere to the 11.8s range) had a friend just dyno yesterday with one, stock bottom end, put down 430 to the wheels..

How about a twin turbo V10 with big *** BOVs? I have and god damn does it sound mean. Picture Indiana Jones cracking his whip right next to your ear. That's what the BOVs sounded like on my friends dads TT Viper. insane.

yeah supras are a pretty penny. My friend had a 97 and sold it for like 23K with over 100K miles on it, but still was going strong. I'm gonna be looking for around 400rwhp when I get my vortech on. I'm going blow thru so i'll have the nice BOV sound.

Haven't heard a v10 but.. I have talked to the driver of this car a few times:

It runs in the 6s at 230+ MPH not much blow off there though..just loud popping when hes spooling up and then silence when it launches lol.
