gone past 120?

anybody seen a gauge cluster that goes past 120 and can be calibrated so it works. i figured if you had a handheld tuner you could use gt gauges but from a post i made in the americanmuscle section i found out you cant(or atleast it was unlikely)

Lazerred6 09-15-2008 12:53 PM

I don't want to be mean but why do you want a gauge that goes past 120

you might be able to get 120 but it would take a long time to get there and no one really has any buisness going that fast crotch rockets do it all the time but they are just being tools

INtZ 09-15-2008 12:55 PM

cause i wanna now how fast im going???lol

01FR500 09-15-2008 12:57 PM

You could use a GPS. Don't drive that fast man, bad for your health.

Lazerred6 09-15-2008 01:00 PM

your car is limited to around 110 anyway

PColav6 09-15-2008 01:01 PM

It's sad when my gauge only goes to 120 and then I get in a japanese or german economy car and it goes to 150.

Sad.

INtZ 09-15-2008 01:02 PM

ya i had it up to 115 once and then i got a tuner and pegged it at 120 once. i just wanna see how fast i can go. not a regular thing for me to be cruising that fast. im just curious, and ya i know curiosity killed the lawbreaking speeder.

i kno:(

INtZ 09-15-2008 01:06 PM

oh and im not gonna spend that much on my 6er anymore (think im gonna do 5.4l swap gonna be difficult and bit pricy cuase im jumpin from a 6 to an 8 but eh) so if i cant find an option for cheap ill just barrow someones gps or just not do anything

mustangvsix 09-15-2008 11:09 PM

I know one guy was able to get a Mach 1 cluster to work. If I remember correctly you can get Ford to calibrate a Gt/Mach 1 cluster to work. Not real sure, not really worth the hassle either.

Steeda21 09-16-2008 01:32 AM

trying to max out our v6 mustangs is like a kid in a smart car drag racing....it is pointless and wreckless not to mention my two best friends were killed speeding. Hitting a tree at 100+miles per hour doesn't have any good results. Yea every once in awhile i dick around with other mustangs and such but i never go into triple digits.

If you're going to race, don't do it on the street. That's go to jail and get your car impounded stupid. :cop:

Leonide 09-16-2008 02:05 AM

you really don't need gauges that go past 120 on 6 ers... the fastest i ever brought up my mustang to was 115 MPH. ( i have a tuner.) if you want a gauge cvluster that goes past 120, get a mustang GT.

you must be doing something wrong then. from factory my stang was limited to 115 with the tuner i removed the limiter and hit 120 easy i could probably get to 125 or more but ill probably just barrow someones gps not really looking to spend money right now got a project in mind

kobudo 09-16-2008 01:05 PM

Whatever you call it, it's still stupidity on wheels.

If you want to drive fast, DO IT ON A CLOSED COURSE. kthxbye.

You are killing your mustang by going that fast.
Aren't you making min. wage? yah, don't think you can afford to blow an engine...

if i can remember about 2 years back on this forum we talked about this and we concluded that a v6 could hit 136 if u removed the speed limiter

anyone remeber this conversation?

yeah. The V6 is governed by ford at 117, when it is removed by a tuner you are then limited by power/aerodynamics. I remember someone claiming to have hit around 135-136 area with full bolt ons and the automatic.

King 09-17-2008 09:55 AM

Having never seen a Camry's real speedometer, I can't confirm that this is real but maybe someone else can. Either way, it's sad for sixers...

EDIT: HAHAHA, I just notice it's KMH not MPH

Lazerred6 09-17-2008 09:59 AM

I was going to say somthing but I saw you edit but thats still 150 mph

King 09-17-2008 10:01 AM

Here is the speedometer off of an '08 Accord EX-L sixer, granted it does pull 265hp.

hahahahaha

WNRacing 09-17-2008 08:09 PM

I got my Stratus R/T up to 135 the first night I had it and it was still pulling pretty damned hard.. First and the last time It will ever see those kinds of speeds.

King 09-17-2008 08:20 PM

My old '90 Geo Tracker got up to about 85mph, then it started leaning back because the wind was hitting the front so hard. Haha, I remember having friends pick the thing up and move it from it's parking spot to the middle of the school parking lot. Hahaha, good times.

Stephen4036 09-17-2008 08:35 PM

atleast if he wrecks going to fast he will only be destroying a sixxer.

King 09-17-2008 08:38 PM

Then his insurance will skyrocket and we'll lose all hope that he gets a GT. Race it at the track.

i only got up to 115, because the road i was on is monitered by cops. and i wanted to see if it would get that high, before i let off and slowed down. my car could get to about 125 - 130 if i really tried. ;)

King 09-17-2008 11:31 PM

Tailwind?

silver6stang02 09-25-2008 08:24 PM

Your car will go about 132mph with a tuner, exhaust and other minor bolt ons.....that's about it for a near stock 6'r.

You also have a digital speedometer in your gage cluster where you can check trouble codes and what not too I'll find you a link:yup:;)

INtZ 09-26-2008 08:07 AM

Yeah big differences. The heads were different, the upper/lower intakes( 94-98 singleport, 99-04 splitport) the cam was different. Also the 94-98 came with 2.73:1 rear gear and the 99-04 came with 3.27:1 rear gear.

That why I will try to take your old engine off your hands if you do that 5.4 swap

your engine + some rebuild work and an investment in some items from supersixmotorsports.com (stage 2 intake, heads and a cam) = a decently powered 6
