Default First Upgrades

Hey guys, I just joined and I was wondering what mods I should do first. I have around 500 dollars (give or take) and want the most HP for my money. I have done a little research but still don't know much. I was ready to order the V6 cold air intake for my 2000 mustang but they stoped selling it. (was the 70 dollar one). Any ideas for me?

Thanks, Ralo

get some gears probably 4.10's (3.73 if you plan on doing a supercharger). It won't add any hp but it will help your acceleration a lot. No bolt-ons are really going to add much hp to a v6 engine, so if you want something you really notice but don't want to do a supercharger or nitrous then gears are your best bet.

http://www.stangmods.com/V6-Mustang-...1-m4204c75.htm they have gear kits as well that come with the gears and tlocs. AmericanMuscle is going to sell tloc's for the 7.5 rear end except they don't carry them yet. Not sure how long it will be until they do

yep, gears & tlock would be an awesome start. Remember you will also need a tune afterwards to adjust your speedo for the new gear ratio.

What do you mean by tune? Do I have to buy something? or can I just take it in somewhere? Do you have anymore information on that? thanks.

so it will be probaly less than 1200.00 for gears, t-lok, bearing kit, gear oil, tuner, and to have the gears installed

gears - 159.99

tlok - 197.87

gear oil - 32.97

bearing kit - 74.99

the get the gears installed - about or less than 300 should be no more than 3 bills

tuner - 379.99

you don't have to get a tuner you can also get a speed cal to fix your speedo which is sold my dallasmustang.com. It's much cheaper than a tuner but with a tuner there are many more improvements. So it really just depends on your situation and how much you want to spend.

well it depends on if he is manual or auto, and if he wants the benefits of the tune ability it offers or not.

With the tuner, if I mess something up is there a way to return to stock? And is it really worth it? what can I expect to see with a tuner?

By the way, i don't know if this shoiuld effect my buy, but my shifter and clutch might be different than stock. This is my first manual car so the only other experience driving maunal is from my friends car (not mustang). His clutch only goes down like 2 inches where mine is like 12, i think about halfway is the grab point. Also my shifter seems to have to be pushed further, I had a little trouble driving his since it was so different than mine. Will I be able to shift fast enough for 4.10s?

Me again, i just have about enough money to go ahead and buy it all and figured out my previous question. I was reading today about the t-loc, whats Ford Racing Friction Modifier and do i need to buy it? also do i need to buy the gear oil if im having them instaled at a shop?

Thanks,
Ralo
