Oh I know, but the new modular v8s dont sound a damn thing like them old shelbies either, and talk about mechanic me and my cousin build hot rods, restored an 641/2 mustang. :) (some mean sounds from the 350) but I'll say with ym flows at low RPMs still get a nice growl with some throttle.

duallies

you seem like a pretty knowlegable guy and im fairly new to the car world but what kind of duals would your recommend putting on a v6 that just have a nice throaty sound nothing too loud. Thats sweet about your 641/2 old mustangs are the **** i love them,

Mustangdewd3.8 12-01-2004 04:13 PM

We sold the 64 :\ like right after we restored it. same paint found it sitting on the original tires in perfect conditon liek never ran lol.

I would say for a low throaty sound depends on what you want performace or sound.

Sounds like you want sound so... I would go for
Well first all systems will sound like blarry and like a long blurr but that's because the system needs to be broken in.

So I reccomend for sound H pipe dual exhaust with some aftermarket muffler.

I did flowmaster and it's more loud than any I have really heard. But from what I hear magna flows make a low sound, but I remember ths guy with s 2003 v6 and magnaflow emblems pulled up near me i couldn't hear him at all :\.

So I just reccomend what I did and everyone I know seems to enjoy even some car kids who know somethings mistake it for a v8. so i was satisfied.

So Hpipe dual exhaust (leave cats on) Flowmaster or other aftermaket mufflers 2 1/4 inch piping and 2.5 inch tips. Kink the bends so you keep some backpressure for the six, so if they ask if yuo want mendral bent piping you say "no" and it's also less expensive :)

That is just for sound not for performance.
if you want performance I'll tell you something different.

Also to change the sound add in a different Cam Lift :)
But thats completely in the other direction and more of a performance mod but it has been known to change the sound to more uneven burbly v8 sound.

However, the v6 is ultimatly an even firing engine and can't make the v8 sound ever lol. but it's still a good unique sound :D

i was gonna look into flowmasters about 30 series but i thought i would get some peoples point of views so what mods do you have on your v6.

IceMan 12-01-2004 05:40 PM

I've got a sixer with flowmaster 40's and no midpipe... It's quite impressive but I definitely need a nice hpipe or prochamber for the added sound.

Flowmasters sounded terrible on my 99 V6 IMO...way too much drone, and it never even closely resembled a throaty sound...

on my 01 V6 Stage 1 Roush, I had factory magnflows with the side pipes...it sounded great...and when i put in a Custom X (with cats) It was AMAZING...for a 6....

Flowmasters sound terrible on anything other than an 8, and even then, there are better muffs out there. Flows sound raspy up top, and it makes the V6 sound like a chainsaw.

he's goign to get so many biased reviews. my Flows never sound drony in higher RPMs after they broke in. and you can't hear magnaflows.

Spintech is good too.

Mine always sound deep and throaty and I would make a multimedia of it for you guys btu i don't have the tehnology :\

Deep and throaty compared to what though???

Your 94 with Flows sounded NOTHING like my 99 with flows...totally different 3.8....its all what you like...

what the hell is differnt split ports, longer durration cam? it's still the same 3.8 pushrod engine, with a higher compression block similar to the SC, biger intake. it's not that much different from the 94 block at all. not enough to creat such a different sound and doesnt this guy havea 95?

and i compare it to this guys 03 v6 with magnaflows which couldn't even been heard :\

but you're right it's what you like
you have a 99 v6 and an 04 GT?
Very fortunate, best of two worlds.

Ok, so I'm completely new to the 'Stang game here... I just bought an '02 V6...
And this is what I was thinking I would do for my exhaust...tell me what you guys think. I'm looking at getting the SLP "Loudmouth" catback system for the 99-04 GT's...and buying the adapter kit for the 99-04's from here... That's kind of what I've been going for. I am looking for the sound, definitely, but I do want to keep a good level of backpressure so I can actually gain hp and torque outta the deal. If there's a better way of doing that, I'd love to hear from you guys. I don't know jack when it comes to this stuff. :-D

mustgod 03-24-2005 04:41 PM

i have a 1999 v6 with Flowmaster cat back dual exhaust and a MAC cold air intake. i've had alot of compliments on my exhaust system. i've been told that it sounds like a V8.

my freinds blown 94 v6 (with 00 3.8 in it) has mac long tubes off road h-pipe and 14" magnaflow's dumped sounds pretty good. i hate v6's and even i think its sounds ok. not to loud and little drone in the car at highway speeds. And his is 2.5" and added an assload of power.

Unless he had a lot of other mods, he woulda lost an assload of torque and made negligible more power.

spike_africa 03-25-2005 02:16 PM

its blown 11#ati kit :) hence lots of hp :)

The1Neo 03-26-2005 07:41 PM

well i just ordered a flowmaster force II for my 99 v6. i think it will go good with the cold air intake i have on my car (from mustang tuning). it will give my car something alittle extra

You won't get anything out of that flowmaster, and you'll see a couple hp from that CAI.
