No, its your car, and I think a set of duals will open her up a bit, your never wasting your time as long as you want it. If it's a 99-04 you will need a Gt bumper cover for the cutouts. Just don't put GT or Cobra emblems on it.

I have a black '04 sixer and a 3 1/2 inch borla dual setup with flowmaster 40's. The rumble really changed the whole feel of the car... Before you heard the engine... now it's drowned out by throaty roar of my exhaust heh... and I don't even have a midpipe... just stock cats. Wait till I throw in a prochamber...

Your best bet is to goto a custom exhaust place and just have them build a right side to your exhaust, the sixers come off the headers and merge into a y-setup and go straight back the left side through the crap muffler ford threw in. just have them build you a right side, throw on 2 flowmasters (or straight pipes, but they don't sound very good on a sixer IMO) and get some nice big stainless (not crappy chrome plated) tips. should run you $300, parts and labor.

You could always buy a complete kit (midpipe and catback) but that'll run you more than a sixer is worth putting into unless you have the money to burn...

::edit:: as to the new bumper... just have them run them below your stock bumper, they look great there... I'll take some pics of mine and throw them up here one of these days.::edit::

Iceman, you don't have a full 3.5" exhaust, do you? Thats way too big for a GT let alone a 3.8. It's a 2.5 to 3.5 tips right?

Seriously..if you have 3.5 in you are killing your back pressure!!!

As far as if its worth it? What are you looking for? Better gas mileage? Better Performance? It may help a little bit...but you are not going to gain that much from these two things...maybe 5-8 hp MAX on a Sixer....and the sound is not that good....Better than stock, but no where near a V8 with the same set-up!

ya just 3.5" tips.

Ya they have two completely different sounds... Mine just isn't as throaty, it's more of a constant deep hum with very little thumps at idle... but at 2,000 rpm's it's pretty damn close to a stock GT. I'll take some clips when I can.

The v6 shouldnt have more than 2.25 unless you have some serious modifications. Even 2.5" is way to big.

I suggest Mac Flowpath mufflers, though no mufflers are going to sound *good* compared to a v8. Its going to get very high pitched at higher RPMs.

recheck your info there bud. I think it even may be 2" exhaust.

DO NOT... I repeat, DO NOT get above 2.25" If you have any questions check out this thread at 3.8mustang.com

http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63637

I wouldnt say its annoying, its totally based on your opinion. I loved it until I got the GT, then it just started sounding like crap for me. Here is a list of people who have installed exhaust on their v6, pros / cons, and some have exhaust videos.

2.25 is stock...NOT 2.5....Taywolf55 is correct...

Think about it, you are going from a SINGLE 2.25 to the dual 2.5 is a huge difference...horsepower will improve, but due to loss in backpressure, your torque is gone...

as far as sound goes, back in the day on my 99 V6 I had flowmasters...had a terrible drone and did not sound good...on my 01 Roush V6 I had the factory magnaflows with a custom X...it sounded great at idle till about 4000...but all v6's get that annoying whine at high RPM's....I am afraid that your 94 will probably sound worse than the 99+ due to lack of good heads...I would say save the mod money, make it look good, and get a GT when you can afford it!

I've spent almost the last 2 years reading posts on the v6 mustang boards about exhaust to know what im talking about. You have to take my judgement here because I know I'm right. Don't mean to be cocky, its just the truth.

Unless you have some serious modifications (aftermarket heads, intakes, cam, etc) dont get 2.5", get 2.25.

2.25 comes stock on the Mustang GT, so if you can find the H pipe off a GT you can bolt that on, and that is the perfect fit.

Yep, 2.25 for stock GT no argument there, end of story. GT exhaust is stainless steel, stock, which is a real nice upgrade, I didn't know you could bolt up a stock GT exhaust, I don't mess with the 3.8 setups. I do know that you can get straight swap mufflers from Magnaflow or flowmaster to clamp or weld right in. this will bring the sound up to par. Tay, excellent suggestion.

The problem, it that you wont pass emissions with a missing cat, it depends on where you are and i don't know the laws and requirments in Tennessee.

You won't ever get anything awful sounding out of a 3.8, unless you have a big exhaust leak. get a catted system, then when your old enough, get a GT, At my local track the Girls are running really fast due to being so tiny. As a matter of fact, I watched a girl shed 2 tenths off her boyfriends times simply due to kick butt driving and being more than 50 pounds lighter

Some high pitched buzzing noises. Believe me keep those cats on and get either flowmaster, mac flowpath, or spinitech pro street.
