tuners?
Can you buy a tuner from someone that has been used on the same exact car, or do you have to get a brand new one for each car. Dumb question i know but ive been wondering this.

If the person used it and then un-tuned their car and loaded thair backup, then it should be unlocked and able to use on your car. If they dont un-install their to and install their original back up, then no you cant use it on yours untill they do that.

Often what appear to be the exact same car will have different computer codes, example is my brother's 06 v6 manual and my wife's car. Hers is the same but just a different color. They use different comp codes and the car won't start if its flashed with the wrong tune. The older cars are a lot less sensitive to this though.
Like another guy said, the original owner must flash the car back to stock. Depending on the brand of tuner after being flashed back to stock it may still need to be unlocked with software (in SCT's case the software is free and you can unlock it freely as long as the car has been flashed back to stock).

My SCT XCal2 might be up for sale soon.
My car is up for sale and I plan on "Returning it to stock" and selling the tuner. Of course, I'll let the buyer decide if he wants to spend a little more for the tuner and tunes.
But yea, mine might be for sale soon.
