what I want to know is, how wide of a tire can I get under my '04 without removing my quad shocks? my wheels are factory bullitt's (17x8's) any help would be greatly appreciated.

On factory Bullitts, I wouldn't go wider than a 275. However, if you get aftermarket wheels, say 17x10.5, you can fit a 315 under there without rubbing.

It's not advisable to run a tire wider than 255 on a 8" rim, 245 -255 is as big as you should go. The sidewalls will lose strength if you have them all bulged out on a rim that's too narrow and you lose cornering traction, induce squirm and risk a sidewall blowout if you whack a good size pothole. For 8.5" rim use 255-265, for 265 and 275 width tires use a 9" rim, etc...
