New speakers.
So Ive been extemely bored the last couple of days and decided to do something with the stang..Thats what I do. I get bored and **** with my car. Haha. But any way, I looked up how to dismantle all the necessary **** to get to the speakers, then headed off to walmart. Well I have the sony xplod CDX-GT51W cd player and decided I oughta get the sony xplod speakers too, so I bought XS-R5743 5x7s for the front and rear of the car, and put em in. Now, taking off the damn door panels was easy, but the rear deck panel was ridiculous, along with actually installing the rear speakers. But anyhow, Im very pleased with the way they sound. So much better than stock! Now I just need a sub. Probably gonna go with a 10 inch. Already got an amp, its nothin special, but it was free, so Im gonna give it a shot. Its called a farenheit or so. Dont remember the power rated off the top of my head.
Cant wait till the next check. Haha.

I love doing little projects on the car when I'm bored. I've got a couple planned that I wanna knock out in the next couple of days. Congrats on the new speakers. I plan to upgrade the sound system one day, probably when my current speakers blow lol.

its really simple, man. Just pull your back seats down, unscrew the three bolts right under the black piece that sits just above the seats, pull that off, and then you can pull out the rear deck panel. Be careful pulling that out though. Its pretty fragile. And be especially careful putting it back in. And Id advise you to get as small a screw driver as you can find to unscrew the speakers. But other than that its really easy. And if you do the door panels for the front speakers its even more simple.

Tweeters. Hm. Id look online for those.
But hey. Awesome news. My sisters bofriend has a 12" pioneer sub that hes letting me borrow until I buy something else. Which will probably be a 10" or 12" xplod sub. But all I need to do now is buy all the necessary wires and hook my **** up. I have a little 260X2 amp that Ill be using until I decide if I want something bigger, which I probably wont. But yeah. Cant wait.

the 460 already used aftermarket speakers. I think (note I said think) that they were sony's (of course they were marketed by ford). On the magnet of most stock speakers it will have a little sticker that will give you the impedance and frequence response. Find speakers that match that (and make sure they have poly cones and not paper) sticker or better, and you will be happy.

ha nah mach speakers are not really aftermarket like not made by sony or any other company like that, they are just ford oem speakers they are just component speakers with the mach system meaning they have a 5x7 door speaker that is the low frequency driver and the seperate high frequency speaker in the corner up top, they also have seperate factory amps to drive the 5x7s

so the mach system is not like the infinity or bose systems that were infinity and bose speakers, but paper cone bottom shelf cheapcheap speakers. I guess the mach system was just an upgraded "premium" system that came in the old fords. Either way, when I first heard it in 99(?) it knocked pretty good for factory.

Can anyone else confirm this? The front and rear speakers have different part numbers and all?

I had a couple of my speakers out last week. Since I have read so much about SOME speakers sounding like crap I have been leery about just getting any old speaker to put in the place of my busted one. Well I came up with a (not so) bright idea of simply taking a 5x7 out of the rear where there is hardly any bass and swapping it with the busted speaker in the front door. Well I got the front speaker out and then tore the rear deck apart and took out one of the rear speakers. To my suprise the 2 speakers had different FORD OEM part numbers on em. I took it as they were different in frequency range and all that crap and since I didnt want to make it sound worse I just put it all back together the way it was. LOL

So basically, I guess the amp I was trying to hook up is just plain fucked. So I went and bought a 600 watt 4 chan xplod amp today, and its bumpin the **** out of the 12" in my trunk. Sounds ******* awesome. Ill have to see if I can get a video of it with out it sounding shitty.

Cause thats all they had at walmart. I really just wanted to go out and buy an amp and hook it up to see if it would work, that way id know if my other amp was broken or not. Well the 260-2 turned out to be fucked and the xplod is working perfectly. Only problem I have with it is the fact that it vibrates my rearview so much that Im constantly readjusting it.

oh ok i got ya, well if bridge 2 of the channels to the sub then at least you will get half the power of that amp, you may already have it set up that way, but as long as it sounds good thats all that matters
