Default Aftermarket head unit with stock speakers?

I just bought a Alpine CDA-9855.. is it possible to just change out the headunits? I'm paying the mobile install guys at Best Buy to install it but they're having all sorts of problems. They said they need to bypass the factory amps but they can't because it's hooked up too weird. They've suggested that I replace all the speakers and have new speaker wire ran. What do you guys think is the best way to get this done?

You need to get metra harnesses 70-1771 and 70-5519 to work with your aftermarket cd player. I have an alpine cda-9835 and mine works fine. Your sail panel speakers will pop at high volumes so adjust your low end db curves on the first 3 slopes all the way down.

Are these the same harnesses I would need for an '04 GT with the Mach 460?

well I got this part today 70-5519 and he said I didn't need the other. It sounds like ****. The bottom speakers in my door don't work. I'm about to let someone else mess with it now. Any suggestions on what to do to get this fixed?

i think crutchfield.com will tell you what you need to hook it up to your ride. i have a 2000 gt and my jvc deck makes my speakers pop when i turn the car on nothing i can do to fix it. hopefully this alpine 9855 will fix that problem.

From past experience Christie, most of the installers at BB don't know what they are doing. They fried my first Rockford amp they installed in my Z71, and had all the gains turned all the way up on the 2nd one and thought it sounded good

BB installers don't know what they are doing. I would take the car to a independant radio shop. If you have the extra Ipod hook up for your headunit you will never listen to a cd ever again. I am having my multi changer removed because I don' t use it anymore. Good luck.

Everyone wants to try to blame this problem on the bby installers.. but I posted this on 4 different forums and got 4 different answers on what to do. I still don't know what to do, I tired one thing and it didn't even work. To say the least I'm getting pretty ****ing ticked off right now.

You've got an '03...hopefully the harness I ordered will be the right one AND get here in the next couple of days. I'll let you know if it works for me.

well, that metra 70-5519 defiantely works. A fuse had just blown that's why I wasn't getting anything from the amp. Everything is back to normal now though

Mattj.. what's your sound quality like now? Mine sounds a bit muffled. Just wondering if that's normal with the stock speakers

You need both harnesses. I ordered my first order from crutchfield and they sent me the wrong harnesses after i chopped em all up and installed them. Mine sounds great and a lot louder than the factory deck was able to do. Both harnesses are needed because the amps only control the lower door speakers and the rear deck speakers. Your sail panels and tweets in the back are powered by the deck, so thats where they both come into play. Those 2 are for the mach 460 system ONLY. I dont know whats needed for the base model and mach 1000 setup.

Tell those idiots that they are retarted and shouldnt be allowed to work with car audio. One harness is a normal wiring harness, and the other one has RCA plugs to work with your factory amps. YOU NEED BOTH OF THESE HARNESSES DESPITE WHAT ANYONE WILL TELL YOU. I have the same deck as you, same car, same factory audio setup. I went through this problem already with getting the wrong harnesses. Take the correct information from someone whos seen this problem, or talk to some idiot who doesnt know what hes doing.

your speaker should sound like flat response crap with no bass, without it.
