Default Blower Issues

I just started up the car today after it had been sitting for a few weeks. When the car is cold, I always get a "blap, blap, blap" sound comming right from the blower itself. Within a few seconds, the sound goes away. I have attributed this to the oil being dry from the blower (but don't know if this si true).

Today, the sound was especially noticeable and went on for a few minutes. I popped the hood, and each time the blower was making the "blap" sound, the belt was actually trying to jump off the blower pulley.

I think something is causing the blower pulley to be hard to turn.

Can someone shed some light on this for me? Is this a "normal" ocurrance with a blower or is something dicked-up?

pull the belt and spin the pulley by hand. if it's no bwaynoh, send it back. it should spin freely. Perhaps a bit of sludge caked inside the v on some of the gear teeth

if the pulley doesn't spin freely, then it's not good (no bueno <-- correctly spelled). Send it back to manufacturer for repair.

I know what that is...mine was doing it right after I had put it on the first time. Its your belt alignment. Your blower bracket is crooked on there likely from one or two loose bolts attatched to the timing cover. Try tightening the bolts that hold the bracket to the motor. Definately dont rev it up cause that belt will jump off.

Dude....I found a bolt pulled nearly all the way out. When I get a chance, I will tighten it all up and start it up.

if you can pull it out, be sure and dab some threadlock on there so it doesnt come back out.

Dam! Looks liek I need to pull a lot of the intake out of the way to get at the bolts just to tighten them.

I think I am going to get the belt off too, just to see if I can spin the pulley and then just replace it at the same tim.

What I really need is a mechanic....I am all thumbs. I had a great guy I could use in PA, but since I moved to WI, I don't know anyone. I don't want to use a dealer. I wish there was a speed shop in town somewhere.

I wouldnt tackle a head unit removal/install by yourself. I dont know how the paxton brackets are made, but the vortech is a PITA to work on.

the paxton bracket is made to where you can do belt changes without removing the head unit. way easier then the vortech. its a pain to have to remove the whole intake, i have a huge powerpipe that goes all the way down to my bumper in front of the foglight. its a snug fit. after that every bolt is a straight shot i had to buy some pry bars just to get my belt on.

just tighten the bolts and see where you stand, before you do that make sure you can spin the pulley by hand.
