7" Touchscreen and Mac Mini In Dash
I plan on cutting the plastic piece between the HVAC control and stock stereo bays to make a perfect 7 1/4 x 5 opening for a 7" Lilliput touch screen. A little fiberglass repair around the edges should make it look pretty stock. The goal is to use servos to control the AC ***** with the computer since they have to be removed to make room for the screen. I'll be putting a Mac Mini in the glovebox to use as my carputer. I photoshopped a picture to show what I want it to look like when I'm done. Anyone ever seen this done in a Mustang? I did some searching and couldn't find anything similar done to a stang.

i've never seen it done in a mustang (though i've seen it in countless other cars) but im sure somebody has to have tried it. post more pics of the whole process. it should look badass when you're done with it..

I could never use a PC. I'm a fond believer that if any PC user used a Mac for a day they'd never go back.
Plus, the Mac Mini is cheeper than any PC you could build that size.
Also, I program Xcode (Mac programing language), so I'm going to be writing the GUI for my car including iTunes interface, DVD Player interface, GPS software control, Wifi finder, Bluetooth phone interface, and AC/Heat Controls.

mp3car.com will be your friend for any carputer needs. MattJ already linked you to some stang projects goin on over there.
As for myself, I'm done with lcds's for a while, MIGHT get a flip out HU, right now I just use my laptop and a USB gps...suits me well, I would like to see your project when it's finished.

Yeah, I've got an automatic V6... I don't have much to say about performance mods :P
I'm putting the money where it's worth it for now, though I've been looking into getting a Cobra in the summer.

this a good website for those car PC. as far as the Mac VS Pc battle they both offer good things and they are both lacking in being the complete OS. i know this because i am both Microsoft Certified System Engineer cert. and Apple helpdesk and Xserver cert. oh by the way Microsoft vista so far looks alot like Mac OS tiger.

It all depends what you want. you can take an old computer and add a screen which is anywhere from 100-500+, a turn on/off module which is about 40 bucks or you can get a 12v dc/dc power supply for your computer and those have em in it for 75 to 150 depending on what you want.
you can spend about 500 bucks and have an nice setup or go all out with hardware and be 1000+ bucks.
