Default I wanna install

HI guys

My car is Mustang GT 99 and I wanna install some parts :
1-Motorsports GMS upper plenum & Ford racing 70mm Throttle bodies.
2-JLT cold air intake.
3-Steeda under drive pulleys.
4-3:73 Gears
5-Dyno custom tuning.

SO what's your advice ??

Get rid of the ford racing throttle body, it sucks, get an accufab or C&L plenum and an accufab tb. Get the 3.73's first unless you KNOW you arent getting a blower, in which case, you need to get 4.10s instead. Get the pullies, and the dyno tune. Skip the cold air, get a K&N replacement filter instead.

what advice do you want? how to install them ? whether u got the right parts? i dont get the question....


i think your parts are just fine just skip the custom tune and buy a mail order xcal 2. u dont need a custom dyno pull yet and the xcal2 will be able to adapt to a custom tune if need be in the future

As dom said...you dont' need a custom tune with those mods..it will be a waste of money..

like others said...get a accufab plenum or C&L plenum..You can get the accufab plenum/Throttle body combo from MT. I highly recommend that setup. You will notice the difference over stock plenum/TB. and throttle response will better.

I HAVE a JLT ram air kit. I recommend that also...DONT BOTHER GETTING THE FENDERWELL kit. bends and turns in the pipe only hurts.

get the steeda pullies. they will help a bit.

3.73 gears? are u getting a supercharger in the furture? if NOT..get 4.10's! many people have traded in there 3'73's for 4.10's that have not got blown.

Custom tune? ummm, do you even have an exhaust yet? I would get a tune after u take care of an exhaust setup. if u do have an aftermarket exhaust...and u add the mods ABOVE..then YES I would get a CUSTOM DYNO TUNE if I were you.....most will say to just get a mail order tune...but the custom dyno tune have LIVE anaylsis showing air/fuel ratio and the tuner can BETTER tune your car.

I got a dyno tune with a SCT flip chip with only the mods I have right now listed in my sig. I am glad I got it...cause My air/fuel ratio was waaayyyy to lean. and my car runs much better almost like a rabid horse. ye hawwwwwwww

You don't need the dyno tune unless you have an automatic. Those are all good mod's but I would agree with the others about the throttle body. If you don't already have it get the Accufab unit instead. Also 3.73's are great street gears, I had them but I race alot and now run 4.30's. If you think you might be spraying or adding a blower then 3.73's are a good choice. Good luck and enjoy the mod's.

You dont even need a dyno tune if you are an auto. If you're reffering to stiffening the gears than you can just download the file onto the XCal that changes your gears shift points.

dont liten to these people talking about that a dyno tune wont benefit u with those mods. listen to me..I know everything. I'm a driver in Nascar.

I had a full SLP exhaust system and BBK CAI on my 01 Auto, I only gained 5RWHP from the dyno tune.

so? I only gained 2rwhp...but my torque gained 11!
Attached is a graph of my dyno....u can see that the car is more powerful throughtout the rpms...and the air/fual ratio is dead on after the tune.

I think the argument is that you can gain some of this if not most from just the mail order tune. I wander what a mail order tune would of looked like compared to one of our dyno tune.

nothings wrong with it you wont notice a difference between the 70 and the 75. i doubt youll even feel a difference with a plenum and TB without a blower or cams

FRPP is just as good as any other if not a little better in many cases. I have a couple of the the FRPP 70mm and it's fine, especially for lightly modded motors. The 75 isn't useful without a blower/turbo/nitrous and a better intake, cams, heads. It's sure not worth the amount of money it costs.

A port matched FRPP 70 is about as easy a bolt on as you could ever want. They come with the TPS normally. FRPP 70's have a long history of being a great unit that was DESIGNED TO WORK WITH THE CAR as a bolt on.

CAI is bling. If you want bling a CAI is a good way to get some.

Granatelli is sh!tt period, polka-dot, end of statement of fact. There is no amount of money in the world that would have me install a part made by granatelli, ever, ever ,ever, ever. If you want reasons, how does sudden catastrophic failure, poor materials, shoddy manufacture and poor fit and finish strike you? Not to mention they steal designs from reputable manufacturers, make the parts from crap pot metal in China. If you need examples of crappy GMS parts, do a search for Granatelli/GMS coil overs or any other part in any of the stang forums.

Get whatever gears get your cack hard. I liked 3.55's, now I'm back to 3.27's for the impending 5.4L swap. Don't let others tell you what gears to get and never let them tell you why. Just get the set that is the least aggressive you can while getting every bit of performance you want. 3.73 is a great choice and I know you'll enjoy the added grunt.

id honestly skip the bolt ons they wont do anything. for the cost of plenum, throttle body, cold air induction, underdrive pulleys, you could get vt stage one cams, instal them yourself in a couple hours and get 20-25 rwhp with a STOCK APPEARING MOTOR

FWIW, My biggest glitch with GMS is that the parts are made for the LOW END market. If you're part of the low end market, then you are budget minded and probably not as experienced as you could be or just new to stangs. Most people use the blanket term "ricer" to describe those folks but it's not the right word. It's guys with limited budget and big eyes. GMS targets the hopeful and the ignorant with their crap parts and you end up learning the hard way.

GMS parts always seem to resemble high dollar parts that are made in America by skilled American welders but the weld quality is junk, the metal is the wrong kind and fit is normally kinda sloppy. Will they function, yes. For how long? Long enough to get your confidence up and let you down HARD.

In any case, I at one time thought that the GMS products couldn't be that bad, they're just welded metal right? I was proven wrong; brutally, by dozens of guys that had major devastating catastrophic failures of parts made by GMS because of shoddy construction or bad materials selection.

You get what you pay for, unless you're as good a trader as I am.

Take Dom's GREAT advice and get a set of cams. You'll thank us later. With the cams, a 70mm TB might be useful for a few HP more. I'll sell you my spare for 50 bones.
