with a sullivan intake (which aren't that expensive and rock) you can obtain similar power levels on a 4v motor. It'll need good cams and some porting on the heads and a solid bottom end but it's not too bad. Power estimates depend totally on the overall combo. Figure that it's not real tough to get 350rwhp from a 4v. Get a 2v and it's more like 325 being your target. Tq numbers still exist on the other side of reason though... the whole purpose of the swap with 2v.

well if you know fabricators i bet you could make the R manifold , then you can work out a deal with the company to market the R type manifold and then say "hey guys, we got a intake that works and looks just like the r intake for sale" people would jump on it
#2228
wow, my bro just got a pro. fabricator to make him an SVO intake since there is none that would handle 1000hp and it only costed him like 3k to go threw that whole process, and this dude is like nationaly renoun or whatever. He designed the intakes for the nascars and ****. Wish i could remember his name. But anyway, maybe i could work something out then and we could call it the X intake lol
#2229
his name is probably Hogan.
There are several intake options available at this time. Find one that does what you want or call up Hogan and he'll make you whatever you want.
Someone with enough drive to do so could even take a set of adapter plates to use as the basis of a new design and just weld up the runners to the plates. I could probably build a good intake for under 1500 bones completely custom. As for producing it... a couple prototypes and done. 2v is harder than 4v due to distance between the heads.

Woah, I think he's saying it cost him 3g's to make the intake that was needed to facilitate making 1000hp. 3 grand for an intake to put on a built motor to make 1000 hp sounds right. Correct me if I'm wrong VOID.

Birdman, please don't belittle me. I was talking about the intake on the built motor. In case your wondering
86 SVO
2.5 Turbo pinto block "Taller Deck Hight"... i think. Bored and stocked to 2.8L
Port and Polished Aluminum Aftermarket head. Flows 345 or so CFM intake and 2XX something exaust... can't remember right now.
Custom Intake which i spoke of, with 8 injector locations.
Custom Tuned Length Header, designed by the same dude.
Turbo big enough to power a viper
Put to 35-UP pounds of boost.
Stand alone computer
All that threw a powerglide.
A man that hold the Title... Worlds fastest SVO has similar set up and his car puts out 850hp and runs 9's. He already told my brother that the car will make way more power than his. I hope it will since he has been building the car for like 4 or so years... But it will be a killer
Please keep in mind these pics are of the motor "mocked up" and not finished lol.
#2235
yep , i know man. I hope its all that he wanted and more since he has spent so much time and money on this thing lol. anyway, i think i got some more cage and tub pics. Maybe i should talk him into scrapping that 4 pot and going with a 5.4L lol
#2236
don't scrap it, just put it to the side. a mod motor in a fox body is wesome. i rode in a 87lx with a bone stock 98 cobra motor and it was hell fast.
project frightning was a stock lightning motor in a fox body that ran 11's right off the bat.

If you've got something constructive to say cool but so far you've been pretty much baggin on people and it's wearing thin.

Hey,
How is everyone doing....good i hope..i know i've been gone for a realllllllllllllllllllll long time...i've recently takin the time to read through where i believe i've left off...i see that you all have made real progress with this idea/reality...r3d i c that those adaptors are coming along great i can't wait to hopefully hook up with you when i get back from over seas..i'm still out here in the gulf...doing what sailors do...i'm still looking at the idea...it still sounds great...i can't wait to come back to the states and bring this idea to reality for me...thanks for keeping this forum alive...thanks for taking the time to read this...

Depends on the car you are trying to get to 1000hp. Take a Dodge Viper. All you gotta do is slap some twin turbos on and your pretty much there. A mustang is gonna take a lot more, but why try and put people down. There is a lot of knowledge going around and your not helping.
#2241
yea , the intake by itself is never ever going to give you a 1000hp... but the stock and other intakes onthe market won't support that much power so that is why it was created and if you see from the pics ... its pretty damn nice, even has the back fire procetion disks in it

I want something that has killer torque. And with my auto, should i stick with the 3.27 or move up to the 3.55 or 3.73? which would give the best mix of go vs. mpg?
#2243
With a 3.27 and auto, I think it feels just right. It takes off with more torque than my tires could dream of gripping. I'm still getting the shift scheduling where I like it (I think I may end up shifting arounf 1600 on light-med throttle), but I can say that the MPG's are noticably better than the 3.8 I pulled out. Except the first tank of gas, I only got about 150 to that tank. I was having a good time and showing off a bit. but it's been over 240-260/tank since then, and I never run it down to E.
#2244
birdman why don't you enlighten us with your infinite wisdom on the matters at hand instead of tryin' to cut ppl down and offering nothing. and sure we're dreamers, who doesn't dream? i mean ****, ya gotta dream of sumthin' to make it become reality right? isn't that were most of the wants in you're life came from? as for bsers, wtf? a LOT of guys on here have a lot of first hand information to share. as for me, i don't know the first thing about a 5.4L engine, i'm trying to learn about it. i suppose i'd be labeled a "dreamer" then right? basically what i'm trying to say, if you have something good and constructive to say then say it. if you see bs, call it out. as for sayin' everyone is a bser, shut the **** up or get the **** out!

no offense, but most of us would rather do it our selves.

cmon guys enough...
now then... the 220/370 car was bone stock everything with some bolt on stuff like a 75mm tb and a ported stock plenum, UDP's... stuff that ain't worth a damn to start with.
The 220/370 numbers came after a cursory tune. I can tell they didn't really have much time for optimizing cuz just a little tinkering can really uncork the power bottle. The mustang drivetrain isn't as power thirsty as the trucks so we show solid 15% better numbers than they do... usually more.
all my numbers are always rear wheel unless you see bhp after the number.
Saleen S330 had way more impressive numbers with just ported heads and a C&L upper. 289/361 is pretty meaty. He complained of a lack of any traction at all through 3rd gear with his 3.73's. I'd do 3.27 for a manual, or 3.55 for an auto. You'll have to learn to launch it... there's no getting around that much twist at such low speeds. It's always going to want to blow the tires off. It takes a lot of practice to be able to launch such a beast consistently.
You can have all the gear your heart desires.. I know guys taht love their 4.10's and make similar power to what we're aiming at where we're looking at it and they make no bones about traction being an everpresent concern. You really gotta watch a car closely that can spin em' in 3rd gear.

should be inclassified section, and rule 13.
