I'd imagine the bracket was as much for attaching wiring to as anything. Nonetheless... could you get me some pics from close in front and top down. I'll see if maybe my adapter plate guy will fab up a bracket. Should be inexpensive and at least we'll know it'll fit.
here's a pic of my guage cluster. No motor pics yet but a couple updates. The crank has appearantly been holding up my motor getting assembly finished. I had them cut it .010 and the machine shop that does that is in their summer rush. It should be getting the heads slapped on early next week, then cams will get degreed in it'll find itself on a pallet to here.
By all the numbers it should be a nasty little bullet.
I also have a guy working to get me a clean swap of my NOSzle kit for a MM k-member and some goodies I need.
Lastly, my replacement dongle came in for my SCT Pro-Racer kit so I can finally update my tune and pull out all the extra fuel.

03gtmustang was selling the cluster. I picked it up from him. It's hella nice to install. Super easy. Now it looks even better with the C2 trans temp guage replacing the Phantom water temp guage in the pic. MRT makes the interceptor setup like I have. They're a lot easier to read than stock... I like em. Even for the high retail price.

hard on achieved.
What cam is in there... I was expecting a serious nasty lope but it sounds good and smooth. Can definitely tell how long it took for the fuel lines to prime. Congrats.

they have a whole slew of neato gizmos for 94-04. I'd clean out a lot of their styling department if I had the moolah to cover it. Fortunately I don't have that kind of scratch.
Check out www.mrt-direct.com. The site is at least very nicely put together.

the cams are 270's i believe, i thought they guy i got them from said stage 3 but it says xe270 on the cams... the idle was high since i had open headers and some open vacum lines. wait till i get a idle at around 750rpms...

You should be fine, just it may not idle but a tune would be ideal. Very important though, that before you crank it over, make sure the oil system is primed. FRPP sells a pressurizing system to prevent your new engine from starting "dry".

i had no tune whats so ever on it. i did put white lithium grease into the pump and tons of assembly lube while assembling it. also i spun it over once with the coils unplugged so it would push the oil before i ran it.
#1909
with my oil cooler in place I have a way to prime the oil system... just hook one of the oil cooler lines to a pump and the other to the sump. A quick hit with a hand cranked fluid pump and you're golden.
plenty of assembly lube is also more than sufficient to last until the oil pressure is up. Fill your oil filter before you spin it on... that'll help quite a bit with keeping the oil pressure up.

I've talked to a few people who have done the swap and started/run the car on the OEM 4.6 Tune.
They said there were some drivability issues, and definate power issues due to the extra cubes, but it fired right up and could be driven.
Also as an update, MMR Got my pistons Friday so I expect to hear from them today, and have the new ones by mid-week - w00t.
BTW - G'Luck Void.

the first 5.4 i dropped in 2 years ago was a 98 nonPI one with alot of bolt-ons and i neve went to get it tuned and it drove just fine. it was alittle hesitant right when u pressed the throttle if u were light on it. also it idls like the iac or egr was unplugged but i still tore *** around in it.

yea, this time i have spoken to a couple tuners out here that are interested in my car so i should have some decent numbers after i get her broken in and to the dyno.
btw - after she ran for a min or two it needs 2 more qts of oil to put it in the middle of the safe zone, that comes to 10qts total...

Hey guys. this is my first post on this board, but since it was this thread that brought me here i figured i'd start out in here.
i've thought of doing the 5.4l in the past, but never knew anything about doing it so i didn't put much thought into it. Over the past couple weeks every bit of free time i've gotten i used it to read and research more about this swap. This thread in particular over the past couple days.
not all the way through, first quarter and last quarter of it. now to cover whats in the middle. haha.
tons of great information. i'm glad there is a thread and a group of guys who have the determination to keep it up.
i'll be checking in. you guys have convinced me about 95% sure that i do indeed want to do this swap to my stang ASAP.
Just a couple questions. i hope i don't seem like a fool for asking, but here i go.
anyone ever put any thought into if the ford motersports SVO heads and intake would be compatible with the 5.4l engines? They aren't cheap by any means which apears to be the goal of your build ups,(note: cheap would be a key part in anything i'd do too) but i'd imagine a 5.4l would love all the extra airflow of a ported SVO.
well, enough of my dreaming. can't wait to see your cars running and see the numbers they put out. sorry for the long first post. its just this topic really has my attention.

SVO heads do fit but the SVO intake needs to be widened or be used w/ adaptor plates. Also, given that the old NPI engines are hated by the aftermarket, you should port the SVO heads so that a PI intake can mount or just port PI heads.
Just curious, R3dN3ck, hows HPS coming along w/ ther 5.4 intake?

to my understanding, please correct me if i'm wrong, but on 2v's ported PI's fall short of ported SVO's. I know a ported PI will be better than a "as cast" SVO, but not near what a ported SVO will be.
I just think a 5.4l could use every bit it can get.
maybe the hardball'r will be out by the time i can get started on gathering parts.

i was already collecting parts before my old 5.4 went south. if u see a good deal or something you would use on your project, go ahead and get it if u can cus u never know when you'll blow a motor and need to rebuild it.
