Fact is, dealers have specific instructions; we have to run the "special" solution in the motor at x rpm until it stops running. ALL drivetrain components must remain intact. Removing the motor breaks the rules of the program, and the dealer might have to eat that $4500. They more than likely wont risk it.

i know the dealers are suppose to do that but when u know someone that runs the used car side of a dealership it helps.

who is to say that the 4.6 sohc from a 98 mustang didnt come in an e-series van when they go to destroy it. they will be none the wiser.

That's what I thought I'm just starting to itch and I wanna get mine in by christmas so I'm thinking build it strong n/a and add the boost of some sort later... I wanna upgrade all the drivetrain after inital install. A friend had a 04 terminator with a kennebell making 601 to the ground when I got drive it and that's exactly where I wanna finish up. Imo that was the edge for me.

best bet is to look for a shop with a few old wrecked trucks. with the economy the way it is, they might give a super deal on the truck/van....

im still not sure if i want to just buy a 5.4 block or try and get a complete engine. i am planning on just leaving it all stock internals for now so im thinking a full engine. or can i get the stock rotating assembly pretty cheap?

Check the houston craigs list there's a e350 5.4 2v on there with a newer expidtiion engine needing a swap intake and you'd be set for 600 right now... well I saw it on there at 4am this morning. =) if I hadn't spent my funds for the wk id pick it up myself for the meantime

After watching the builds done by myillwillinc and sleepingGt (tommy and hunter)
I've made the decision to do the swap as well. I'm waiting on the title for the car its going in as we speak. If all goes well I'll be getting started near the end of the year.

yes the heads on the navi are good. the intake ports are huge on them. they work good with power adders.

about $700 but they're more of a race item, in other words, its gonna be weak down low. I think the birdman swap intake is about $2500, expensive but a better street intake.

I was having an issue with my defrost not working, and on a couple hot days (like 95) the temp gauge wanted to climb. I'm fairly sure I've got a air pocket in there.
I talked to one of the guys I know and he told me he always fills mod motors from the thermostat, not the degas bottle. So any of you guys that have yet to do it, I'd keep that in mind.

hunter did ok last nite. best time was 7.93 in the 1/8. still not taking off good 60' stays at 1.9x so that and his nitrous not working right are keeping from better times. but i'll post some vids of his runs in a few.

this is an all motor pass of 8.43
