Ok.. ok... i'm gonna look at them all tomorra.
Now i'm not trying to rile up all you 2V guys.. but I need some motivation.

Can I get a status check or roll call on my 5.4 DOHC peepz? cha-boy Young Wing.

oh, and i found this on page 7... (i know i'm a slow reader...) but this link is still good, its a v10 in a mustang, and man if my 5.4 performs anything close to that... i'm motivated again.

no riling of 2v guys is likely... we like 4v too.

MM&FF did a nice spread on 5.4L 4v intake options. Basically it found a 99-01 cobra intake on a set of adapter plates was about as good as anything for power under the curve without resorting to a custom intake.

I spent some time working out a basic design last night and I think I have one that will be fairly easy to make and fit under a stock hood and deliver a really solid solid tq curve. Shakin, if you're interested then I'll work with you and FRP to get your intake fabbed. Otherwise, I'd check out the adapter plates and 01 snake intake option. I might even be able to help hook you up with a snake intake for cheap.

I'm gonna try to get most of my swap done this weekend. Still lacking some stuff but I'll finish it up later. I've got afew questions before I get started.

Was considering waterless coolant (propylene glycol)

Exhaust: I've got a cheap X-pipe I'm gonna try to make work. I've read the article about adding a inch or two and cutting the crossover. Before I do that, I'm gonna see how much its off and try to heat/bend it, since the X-pipe I've got is a two piece design anyway.

Belt: I'm running the 6 rib pulleys. Anybody got a part # on a belt?

Adapter plates:What kind of hardware do I need other than the stock bolts?

I'm not getting it tuned soon so I'm gonna pick up a Innovate XD-16 A/f ratio kit.

Thoughts?

waterless coolant... dunno. Seems like it could be neato.

I used my stock belt and mixed and matched idler pulleys from the 4.6 and 5.4 until I got it to fit. IIRC I used 2 90mm idlers and the 5.4 balancer and tensioner and the rest was my stock 4.6 pulleys.

Adapter plates, you'll need allen head bolts unless your kit came with fasteners. 12x1.25 IIRC. Definitely double check that bit. You'll also need a 2nd set of intake manifold gaskets. Your stock tune should run it ok... just don't go WOT until it's got a proper tune on it. Rick at Amazon Racing does great base tunes on mail order/web order. He did my base tune and it was drivable right off the bat.

Evan's Coolant
Sounds good in theory.
Might as well do it when the motor is dry.

That V-10 was a one off piece that doesn;t share much,if anything, with the production V-10.

There are plenty of people that make custom intakes but at a steep price and they will also make custom intakes for any motor. The only intakes that are viable options for a street driven 4v are the stock intake with adapters, MMRs and Karkraft (terrible adaptations of the Navi intake)) and the Sullivan. If you want to spend 3k for a Aussie intake I guess that's an option also but it should only be used with 03/04 4v heads (not the Navi heads) because of the large difference in port dimensions.

Here's another link that shows the results of a 5.4 intake test:http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...est/index.html

I recently got a Teksid motor. 4V B-heads are truly worthless, thought for a 5.4 they may be just right with the extra cubes, no? MarkIntake worthless also?

My motor made over 350rwhp with unported B heads and mild cams and know of two people that got over 380 with ported heads. My motor also had no torque losses down low even with the IMRC deltes. With that, I beleive B heads are far from useless.

However, the Mark intake is worthless.

Thanks. I will try to get something for thre heads as i don't want them. I gues the TB is Mark specific? The progressive linkage is kinda cool. Mark

Question for you coil pack guys, the brackets I just pulled off, dont line up on the 5.4 cover. How did you mount yours?
Edit:Just the Passenger side, Drivers side is good for 3 studs.

Hello all. I have been reading up as much as I can. Does anybody have a "no frills" list on what to do, not to do on a basic 5.4 2V swap?? I got a 5.4 out of a 97 van to put on my 2000 GT convertible. i am looking at just putting my PI 4.6 heads on the 5.4, putting in some cams and likely some shorty headers. Will 4.6 shorty headers work if I custom make or modify an h or x pipe?? Also, if anybody has some 4.62V to 5.4 2V intake adapters for sale, I'm interested.

Also, who sells 5.4 2V adapters that has them and stock and at a decent price??
