Default 2001-2003 GT Question

Are the 2001 to 2003 Mustang GT's Basicly the same car as far as options go?

Are we correct in thinking that the SOHC 4.6 is the same engine and horse power for these years 2001-2003?

Is drive train the same also.

We have found the differnent ext color changes.

And we Think the interior stayed the same.

thank you

The compression was bumped a tad, injector size changed from 19 to 22#, A pillar changed, air temp sensor moved to MAF, water pump pulley, headliner changed.

Options packs were basically the same. 01 cobra wheels were added to the premium package.

Average power output climbed a little from the 99-01 numbers for 02-04 (10-15rwhp from what I've seen on the dyno) thanks to engine management changes and compression ratio increase.

The tranny changed mid way through 2001, so it depends on the car. In 2001, the compression went up a tad, but I have never heard that they made more power, though that could be the case.

But to address your question, I am not aware of any changes that were made in the years that you asked about. The big changes took place in 1996, then 1999. A few, more minor changes were made in 2001.

Also, the engine builder changed. They went from Windsor to Romeo or the other way around (I can't remember), but I think this happened in 2001.

The water pump changed in 01 to a short pump design, but I have seen cars with the long pump pulley past 01.

There isnt really too much difference between the years though.

2001 is the year to be careful on if adding parts. I have an 01 and have to watch out whether im getting 99-mid 01 or mid01-04
