Auto Tranny Gears
Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I have an 01 Auto GT with a full exhaust and CAI. Custom Tuned and dynoed at 240RWP and 285TQ. Is it possible to change gears in an auto? Is it worth it? What gears are recommended? Also, next summer I plan on installing a Procharger 8PSI intercooled kit, so should I just wait?

Yea, I only gained 5HP from the tune. Well I am an auto and lose 21% of power at the flywheel. That's about 6% more than a manual. Also I have stock TB and plennum, thats my next mod, upgrade to 75MM TB combo. Im sure i can free up quite a bit more air flow since I have a full exhaust.

I've been kind of looking into this. What gears do I have now? It's just a stock auto. Will 4.10's affect gas mileage, I'm not all that familiar with gears, which is why I posted this question. I've read that gears can save about 0.5 seconds of the 1/4, can I save that much, even with an auto?

Stock size was 3.27's in your car, so 4.10's will wake your car up BIG TIME....you will need a chip, tuner, or get a custom reflash so your speedo works.
Get the kit here on this site, and a good installer should be about $200 with install kit....

Thanks for your help. I already have the SCT xcalibrator2. I was his first automatic he tuned in his shop, so he did everything for free and only charged me for this chip. To re-tune the car for changing gears do you think he will have to put it on the Dyno again, because he said he will do slight mods for me for free, EX: when i put on a 75mm TB, he said he can just change the air/fuel ratio and won't charge me. thanks for the help.
