Default Timing Help

OK...so I needed to take off my heads to repair them and I am now putting my car back together. When removing my heads I set my engine at top dead center. After removing my timing chain cover and my heads, my #1 cylinder is at the top of its stroke and the piston is flush with the engine block as it should be (TDC). Before putting my heads back on, the Chilton book I am using told me to "rotate my crankshaft counterclockwise until the crankshaft keyway is in the 9 o'clock position". This doesnt seem right to me. Right now the keyway is splitting 10 and 11 o'clock. If I rotated it wouldn't this take me out of TDC? Should I just ignore this step and keep everything where it is? If anyone could explain this to me I would really appriciate it. Thanks.
