ok, heres a question. i have a Bomz Racing fenderwell CAI, only problem is, couple of months ago, it was raining, i drove into a puddle of water and my car stalled, turns out, water got in the engine through the CAI and broke my piston rods, would this be a problem with a new fenderwell, jlt perhaps bbk, or am i better off with the ram air, if so, what is the horsepower sacrifice? thanks in advance

I would go with the JLT ram cai just b/c it is shorter. It comes with a heat shield so u will not get engine heat. It makes more sense to me b/c the shorter length should make it breathe better. Air doesnt have to travel so far to get to your throttle body. Just like exhaust piping the least amount of bends and curves the better air flows out hence better power. The same concept applies to air coming in too.

If you don't want to ever worry about hydrolocking again then get the RAI. I have the JLT RAI and am very happy with it. I don't know how far down the JLT CAI goes. However, I choose the RAI over the CAI becuase of how easy it is work work in the engine. I didn't want to have to get under the car to take the filter off each time I wanted to take the intake off. With the RAI everything is right there and easily accesable.

As long as the water get's into the engine it can hydrolock it, puddle or pond. I had to tear down and engine once that had hydrolocked. I don't know how much water he drove through but it was and '07 Silvarado, so it must have been alot of water. Blew a hole in the side of the block and snapped two connecting rods.
