Default Question about Heads

So I've been doing a lot of research and have been trying to figure out what kind of heads to get. Honestly, I don't really know the difference between many of them. Some say they're not for street use, others say they're not street legal, etc. Moreover, the whole stage 1, 2, and 3 thing. I'm extremely confused! Can someone please help me out with this? I don't even know where to start!

Please post a list of mods that you already have and what you would like to do in the futher. Safe bet would be Stage 2 Fox Lake. This is a major expense. Plan ahead. Good Luck

Sorry, didnt mean to leave stuff out. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to forums.

Well, I pretty much have a stock 2001 GT. It's got a magnaflow exhaust, but thats about it. I intend on putting in longtubes with an X-Pipe and a borla catback. Also, at some time I'd like to add a supercharger (more than likely a kenne bell or a whipple). It's got an auto transmission as well. I know it'll be expensive, that's not really too much of a worry for me. This is something I'll be doing over a long period of time and intend on getting the best parts that I can for my car. I'd like to keep it street drivable since I'm not too big into the strip racing, but I also want it to have some major performance. Also, I was thinking about adding some nitrous to it, but I don't know if I wanna mess with that stuff. It seems like its a big risk.

I'd wait on the heads until you are ready to go w/ the blower. Maybe make it the mod before you slap on the blower.

In that case, the real question then I guess is where to start? There's obviously so much to do but what really is going to help?

Pretty much I want to slowly work my way up and have the supercharger be the last thing to add on. Not just because it's the most expensive, but by the time that I'd be putting it on, all I'll need to do is install it and get it tuned, not have to worry about changing out 1000 things all at the same time.

Performance wise, I'm looking to get the most that I can with still being able to be a daily driver. I don't go that far in it on a daily basis, but I'll need to be able to go long distances if needed.

Another quick thing, does anybody know what would be a good Idea on how to quiet down an exhaust might be, or maybe a good set-up for a performing yet quieter system? The set-up I have now is pretty much rattling my whole car, let alone passengers need to nearly scream over it and I have to have my music nearly cranked just to hear it at a comfortable level over the exhaust.

magnaflows are already pretty quiet so the next step would probably be what r3d said, STOCK.

just put the supercharger or turbo on your car now. get the other stuff later

im not sure if your a mechanic but if you put heads on now and blow up your motor there is a good chance you will jack up your valve train.

get the blower now. 2-5 grand depending on what you get new or used
forged longblock with blower cams later down the road <---this is the most expensive part
you will probably need a new transmission by this time so be prepared for that too
bigger fuel system will be need to support anything over 500 hp.

i run a blower on my car and i wasted money on steeda pulley's, MAC CAI and 70mm T/B. but with those mods before the supercharger i was running 13.4-13.5 all day on the 1/4 mile track in a AUTOMATIC on a 245/45 gatorback tire LOL.

Well forget that, I'm not going to go Stock on it. And good point with the blower. I just didn't wanna toss it on there and not have the proper components.
