gears, cai, pulleys, larger maf, port polish, cat back, remove cats(2), chip, and a big whale tail like spoiler (j/j) that only works in the mind of some import drivers

Start with gears like some 4.10s or some 4.30's. Those will give you the best seat of the pants feel, and then go for some exhaust work like a new off road midpipe and some mufflers for the sound. Also, your car likes intake upgrades like the JLT kit. This should make a drastic improvement, but nothing will help you like a blower.

if you get a set of 4.30s and off road exhaust you will like your car a lot more. do you have any mods now?

With the cobras you can get 4.30s which is what Im going with. Remember that the Cobra revs higher than the GT.

cold air, pulley's, exhaust, and gears. saw a 96 last night with cai, x-pipe, pull's, and 3.73 running 8.8-8.6 1/8th mile and killing a camaro SS (okay so the camaro was really close and i think his time was a hair better but the Cobra had the better reaction time.

Will FR500 heads mate up to a 97 cobra? If so, I would highly suggest those, the FR500 intake and some cams. Otherwise, I would look into basic boltons, especially exhaust.
