Default Professional Products Plenum on my 96 GT

Ok boys and girls, I have found something interesting about installing the Professional Products Intake Plenum. I put it on my 96 Gt today. While installing this thing I found some very unique problems with this. Motor background is such: Full PI swap, forged pistons (flat top), forged crank, mach 1 fly wheel and SCT tuned.

Now when installing this plenum, I found most things went well. The supplied brass fitting for the hoses are easy to get in, (first of many but's) but they only go so far in before they get way tight. Second thing I found was a possible problem was the hoses. The rear hose on the back of the plenum doesn't quite fit, but with a bit of fussing you can make it fit. The third and biggest problem I have found was my cold air intake fitting to this thing. I have a UPR intake and with the new plenum installed the all metal intake won't fit onto the throttle body. If you have the stock strut tower brace as I do, you won't be able to make it fit. However, aftermarket strut tower braces will likely work, or remove it completely. I had to use the stock rubber intake tube to fit it, and this thing still was a beast to fit.

I felt anyone who has this in the work should know of the issues I had with it. You will end up with two bolts from the original plenum left over. No issues I have found yet other than these three things.

I have the PP plenum, Steeda CAI and MM strut tower brace. It all fits... just barely. The tower brace will have to be redesigned when the 5.4 comes in... grrrr.

I have just the stock tower brace and I couldn't get it to fit for any reasonable way possible. I am thinking the C&L Intake tube from the throttle body to MAF since it is formed with bends would work. Not sure though.

I couldn't get the C&L pipe to work on my setup even with the stock plenum. It hit the hell out of the STB. Kinda trial and error. If all else fails you can cut 1" from the TB side of the C&L pipe and that'll open up some clearance to the STB and the strut tower itself. It worked ok for me but I said screw it and used a steeda.
