Default looking for suggestions

Accufab 75mm tb and Xcal 2 on their way. Should be here in a few days. Already have MAC cai, ford racing 9mm plug wires, O/R X-pipe, 40 series 2 chamber flowmasters, 180 degree thermostat, Steeda pullies. Oh yeah, its a 97 GT. I love the sound, but I am of course, looking for more hp. What are your suggestions for the next step? I mean, what's the biggest bang for the buck that I still haven't done? I know NOS, but I'm a little nervous about shooting that in a 83K engine. And yes unfortunately, I can't swing the supercharger, so we'll put a star next to that one and move on. Anyway, I've been reading a bunch of the threads on here the past few weeks and thought I would turn this over to the masses. Please help.

i have a hard time seeing that bang like nitrous does lol.

But Nitrous (NOS is a company) is safe when used correctly. Go read the power adder section there is alot of good info in there.

Good because its not a bolt on, but a lot of people use it that way.

Maybe put some long tubes? But the best bang for the buck is probably 4.10 gears.

Gears and a PI swap will do wonders for your car. Then spray it if you feel safe.

Alright, alright, gears, I get it. Still do a good bit of HW driving in this thing though, so I was thinking more in the area of 3.73's. Is that still worth the cash. And for the record, what is the stock ratio in the '97 GT's? And who in your opinions is the best manufacturer of gears? (if that is even an issue) God I ask a lot of ?'s Thanks for all the replies, I'll get a pic of my slow ride up here soon.

I've read the 97's could have came with either 2.73.s, 3.08's or 3.27's. And this is reading from my FORD shop manual for 1997 Mustangs. I would say Ford Racing makes the best but I like motive also. Usually people say motive will whine but usually they don't. Also if you pack the shims to tight, it will make it whine with any gears.

But with what ever gears your car has 3.73's will be a nice jump and won't hurt highway

PI swap and gears. 3.73's will be plenty of fun and are more streetable than 4.10's IMHO <flame suit on>. You'll probably stay about the same on fuel mileage with 3.73's.

The PI swap is a MAJOR upgrade. Nominal results with a tune are 260-280rwhp with just stock PI heads/cam/intake. It bumps your compression to 10:1 though so you'll end up with at least 89 octane needs and maybe 91 if you get a tune that's more aggressive than stock.

Since I haven't done this in a while... a 5.4L swap would wake the hell out of your car. Massive performance increase. Right Saleen S330?

whoa whoa whoa. r3dn3ck, you're telling me that the '97, which is only 215 hp stock, is 260-280 with new heads and a tune? am I missing something?? If not then you've definately got my attention. Let me know where I misunderstood you, and if not, then I need heads pronto!!!

Yes becuase of the extra compression and the better flow of the heads and intake you will see massive power results. The 96-98 motors with PI top ends make more power then us PI headed guys stock becuase of your extra compression makes more power.

Spike as usual has taken the words directly out of my mouth. I've seen results as high as 300rwhp with a little porting (very little) and a set of only slightly better cams. In fact, the best one I've seen was even still using the stock TB, MAF, intake tube and plenum and netted 307rwhp with a cursory tune.
