Ok, lemme first say that I've used seafoam. The engine is clean. There was tons of smoke and so I know that all or most of the crap let my car. I also only have 36k miles and have had routine oil changes(and fluid flush a few thousands miles ago) every 3k miles.

When i start my car up, once in a while(maybe once every week or so) if I dont let it sit and idle for a minute or so, and i just go, I could be totally easy on the gas, not hard in the slightest and it starts sputtering like CRAZY! I can be lightly pressing the gas and just see the tach drop because the engine is acting stupid. Then if I press harder on the gas, it'll still not respond, but rather in sputters. a little and then no response. back and forth a little. Eventually, it does straighten out, but if I had to hit the gas fast while it was doing it, I woudlnt be able to accelerate.

extra note: This only started happening after I got the headers and tune done. It has happened before the gears though.

absolutely ANY idea of what it could possibly be is GREATLY appreciated and I will bump this thread if it dies bc this is extremely important!!

 

yeah you could have a cloged injector, or bad gas, put some good gas in see if that does anything

 

Well, you need three things to run: air, fuel, and spark. You have a problem with one of those items which is resulting in a missfire.

Things I would look at especially since you ran Seafom:

1 - Blocked fuel filter

2 - Fouled spark plugs

3 - Bad coil pack.

So, replace the fuel filter and pull a few plugs and see how they look. My experience has been with a bad coil, you won't throw a code. I know at least two others that had this issue to. I hate to say it, but you need to resort to the basics and go from there. Rule out what you can.

I had a miss issue like this after washing under the hood. Turned out to be two bad coils, was a pain to trouble shoot, and threw no codes.

 

if it happened after the tune, your part thorttle setting might suck on your tune.

 

usually white smoke appears if u got water in the engine.......got a cold air? been thru puddles?

 

The smoke was from the Seafoam.

 

I was gonna say sounds like fouled plugs. did you rev too high or too long when you were using the seafoam?

 

Well, My dumbass dad(yes I said dumbass) felt the need to rev unnecessarily while doing the seafoam so it's very probable. But lemme just say that this happened before I put the seafoam in. I seafoamed it to try and fix the problem, but it still does it. Also, ever since I got the car, once in a while when I start it up, it would burble and hesitate to completely start up for maybe a second or 2. Nothing super long, but long enough to be noticeable.

How do I go about getting them injectors/tune checked? a mechanic or the shop that gave me the chip? Remember, this doesnt happen all the time. But just enough to be noticeable and to bother me

 

My 04 GT does the same thing every once in a while.Everything is clean and the car runs fine other than that.It does this after setting for a few days and only does this once and clears itself up.It is a PITA but not anything that really bothers me so I just live with it.One way I have pretty much eliminated this is to spike the engine to about 2000 rpm after start up.

Hmmm....if it only does that sometime, i can assure you that it's not the spark plugs, but you should definately pull a few just to be sure! Sounds to me like you iac is in the process of taking a dump on you, but i could be wrong, try taking off your iac and clean it if its dirty! That happened to me a few times in the past! I would be driving down the road and my car would act all crazy and would want to turn off...got home, removed the iac, and spray the fawker with carb cleaner and solved my problems!

Is it throwing any codes at all? As blake said as well, it could be a clogged up fuel filter, so you should change that as well...start with the small things first and work your way up from there!

 

Hmm, mine does close to the same thing but only when its cold out and i jump in to go. Ive been told to ALWAYS let it warm up, I do this and it is fine. ive been told that since its supercharged it might have issues correctly reading right with the air and everything being cold....I don't really know how to explain it but it sounded right when it was explained to me.

 

again, sounds like a bad IAC. when was the last time you replaced the PVC valve and if so, was it a Ford part?

Until the car get to temperature, the PCM does not read any of the sensors, it guesses what the car needs to run right which is whats called a closed loop. My guess is the tune is running the car a little lean of fuel at cold temperatures. An IAC would only cause problems at idle speed. Its not ignition related, the car runs fine at idle.

A faulty o2 sensor will cause a similar problem. Just had your headers installed recently huh? Although I highly doubt this is the problem since o2's usually throw codes, and dont actually become functional until proper engine temp.

Its hard to diagnose over teh net. Its easier when its in my own repair bay and have my solus.

 

Someone post a picture of an IAC and a PVC valve. Thatll probably help a lot of people out.

Mine does the same thing. It also started after i got long tubes and tune... and cams. It only does it for like a min untill it warms up a bit. So i'm driving for a min switching in and out of drive to nuetral... lol. Mine is throwing a cam sensor code... so idk what the hell it could be... it only does like once a week like you said, so i've learned to live with it... i presume it's because it says ford on the car, i want to take that damn emblem off....

 

Mine does the same thing, its the computer re-learning a little and everything else warming up. I have the solution thought - just keep the rpms around 2-3k for a few mins when you start driving and everthying will be fine. This will happen when your car sits for a few days, nothing to worry about. Drive it everyday and it will stop.
