Default Took the mach to the dyno tonight

Went to the dyno tonight to check my a/f and to tune my car with my predator. Got 282.5hp and 317tq. I should have went with a chip to get it into the 300 range, oh well At least I know my a/f is safe, because the first run was around 15:1, now it's sitting at 13:1.

Nice numbers dude. I'm putting mine on the dyno friday. I'm doing exactly the same thing as you..... I'm opting to only have him tune it with the Predator rather than a "full" custom tune. It would cost about $100-150 more to get the full tune, and funds are a little low with Xmas coming up.....but you know what, I might get there and get it tuned with the predator and he may tell me he could squeeze 10-15hp more with a custom tune and I'll do it! ha ha ha

samstang, yes the predator is somewhat limiting compared to a custom tune from what I've been told.....I'm sure someone with more knowledge that I can tell you exactly why, but all the tuners I've talked to around where I live say they can get more out of a custom tune rather than just using the a hand held tuner.

I kind of figured that, ive been debating on gettin a Predator or Xcal2 just to have the ability to make chnges when i want versus getting a dyno tune. Around my neck of the woods everyone uses the Predator/Diablo software! Though ive herd and read great things about SCT not many tuners mess with it around here thanx for the info!

I think they probably are both really good tuners, however I'd go with what the tuners are using around where you live. If I had to to it all over again I would have checked to see what people use where I live and it would have been SCT rather than Diablo.

Sorry for the double post......you know what trips me out about Mach's is there is a wide range of dyno numbers for stock Mach's......Some guys on Mach 1 registry have dynoed bone stock at 278rwhp while others are at 258rwhp stock...I guess it's probably normal for each car to be different, but it shouldn't be by that much , but I also know a guy with a Mach who has an K&N FIPK, Magnaflow cat back and SCT tune and it putting 290 to the wheels.

Yeah, i believe there both good. I have a dyno tune and Iam pretty happy but iam gettin ready to install some 30lbs. injectors and Iam going to have to do it all over again! then i plan for some VT cams some time in the spring, so guess what I have to do again?

On the Dyno #s your right! everyone is a bit different? sometimes theres a big gap in the difference its the same for the 2V guys too! My buddy and I had about the same Mods (before the tune) his car dynoed 250rhp. & 280rtq. Mine dynoed 235rhp & 273rtq but we go to the track his best was a 14.9 at the time mine was a 14.6!

I just use it as tuning reference to see what works for me and what doesnt?

as a 2v im pretty happy with my dyno numbers, I've also got a lot of **** about them too from people who think they're a lot higher than what it should be. Some cars are just factory freaks I guess. My car may put down some decent numbers but I swear to you it's so picky about every little thing we've put on it. It's weird how different cars respond different to the same mods.

That there is the best, honest advice anyone should be giving. Having a good, local tuner is paydirt..heck even I would use Diablo if I had someone close by.

I totally agree, that's why I went with Diablo. Still rather have a custom tune though

Here ya go danny.
http://jlttruecoldair.com/

I've got one painted to match, looks sweet... Back to the subject at hand, my car is only putting down 299.6 torque at the wheels. But these numbers are through a automatic tranny without a torque converter. So it all depends on the setup you've got running.

Hey csledd & Mugg11 you guys cars are putting out some awesome N/A #s especially the TQ! My car never broke out the 300ftlb mark N/A with my old combo? Ive added Headers, Prochamber,Trickflow upper plenum and a focus fuel pump so i dont know how much that will help? (next month 30lb inj.) Ill be doing a dyno in January sometime? I know the car pulls and runs hard now! and I have no problems running 14.0s- 14.2s N/A @ 5000+ ft Im pretty sure I can get it into the 13s N/A! What kind of #s are you two running?

With what you have. You should be in atleast the mid 13's. I havnt been to the track to get #'s since my cams, headers, mid-pipe, tune. When all i had was gears, full intake, x-pipe and cat-back, i ran constant 14.3's on street tires, (with my auto). For the power I'M putting out i should be getting way more tq, but i have yet to get a torque converter, which will shoot that up sky high. With your setup, get some good slicks or drags, and you'll be in the low 13's definatly.

Just go to the site that mugs told you about. Mine is the RAI not CAI version. It keeps the hood scoop functional, while the CAI elminates the functionality of the shaker. It runs into the fenderwell, while mine doesnt.

Well thats easier said then done I live in Colorado, the Tracks up here are in the altitude range of 4500-5000ft. above sea level you can count on losing atleast a second of your 1/4 mile times Hec!! when the Pros come here from NHRA they have a hard time tuning there cars at this elevation! and you can definetly see the difference in there times! but i think with my next mod and tune i can break into the 13s
