Default So I got a speeding ticket today......

First off, I am new here and just found this website tonight and like to say "Hey". About a month ago I finally got my Mustang I have always wanted. A 2002 Mustang Gt Deluxe with the Mach 1k Sound Package (which I must say is one of the best stock audio systems I have ever seen) with the nice Mineral Grey paint job. This is also my first car. Love the car to death and plan to get some work done on the car soon.
Anyway, I was driving today going about 70 (making sure the Stang trully does have 260 HP stock, and yes it does) and was going in a 35MPH road, even though it was a straight road with 3 lanes, who would have thought?? The music was blaring and then I look in my rear view mirror and I see a cop right behind with his lights blinking at me. I swear the guy was eating a donught too! After I pull over the guy kills me with tickets. I get one for speeding, one for changing lanes without a blinker, and one for reckless driving, which was bullsh-t. So now Im basically screwed because it the state of Florida if you get 12 points in a year your license gets taken away and I already have 11!!! Looks like I gotta go to traffic school now. My question is that if I do go to traffic school, do all my points get taken away??
I also created this topic because I thought it would be fun to talk about some stories you guys have getting your first ticket in a Mustang!
Later.

70 in a 35? Sorry man, but you deserve that one. Part of owning a stang is knowing you have the power but don't have to always display it. Slow cruise rumble will impress just as many as speeding (and its cheaper too.) Saw a stang commercial once that said " why break the law when envy is perfectly legal?" Leave the high speed flyby's to the ricer nation. Drive safe!

i gaurantee more people will pay more attention to a growling stang slowly going by...more than a Fast And Furious neon green civic flying by....

if that is your first car, and you only got it a month ago, how do you already have 11 points on your license? if you rack them up that quick, you need to save your money and not do any work to the car. It will only enhance the problem.

I do have to say that 70 in a 35 is pretty bad. I can't judge too much, as I have a tendency to raise the needle past the posted speed limit a bit, but if the area is 35, it must be for a reason, and thus you will stand out more than if you are on the freeway. Stangs can be some great toys to play around with, but you have to be responsible and watch yourself. And know, what the cops don't know/see won't hurt them (i.e. make sure you are looking around and watching for hiding spots), but you deserve what you get if caught speeding.

I have had my license for five years now with no tickets at all :knock on wood:, so no stories to tell. Have been pulled twice, once just got a warning as I wasn't going fast enough for a ticket to hold up, and another was simply harassment, claiming that I was going too fast through an intersection with cops on the side of the road attending to an accident or something on the side. A guy coming at me from the other direction started to turn in front of me with me like right at the intersection. Luckily the guy slammed on brakes but was already partially in the intersection so I swerved around him to continue forward. The cops thought I was drunk or something and trying to hit them on the side of the road. I was going like 30 in a 45 because I saw the accident/ police lights, but they still chased after me only to yell at me to slow down when I see lights. I know it was harassment because of one comment one of the cops made to me after they asked me to step out of the car and searched me and shined the light in on my g/f asking her if we had been drinking..."I don't care if you do drive a MUSTANG COBRA (sarcastically), you slow down if you see police lights." (I know my name says GT but I had a cobra at that time.) It was complete bs, but at least no hassle with having to go to court to explain myself.

Had to do community service 25 hrs and that was it then about 2 monthes later i got a reckless driving ticket for doing donuts in a neighbor hood and one of the neighbors called the cops and they came and gave me a recklessdriving ticket another 40 hrs of service that was that. So u can say i have never rele just had a speeding ticket or signal ticket i just get arrested for racing hahah yes ik its not funny but he wanted some stories and im 17 and due to my speed problems i know own a 99 v6 but im very happy with my new car looks and sounds amazing

I got my license in 1976. Got my 1st ticket same day as I got my license. Eased through a stop sign. HP told me happy B-day. Got my second and my last moving violation in 1978 for easing through a stop sign. ( I learned that lesson the hard way). I have been let off several other for sure tickets. Once for drag racing with a pal o mine. Cop said go to the backroads and race, Stay outta my town with that stuff. . I got put in a patrol car stinking drunk once and let go because I didn't friggin breathe the whole time. ( i never drove drunk after that little wake me up call). And I have had my 04 stang for 1 year last week and have had what I thought would have been pulled over and get a ticket. But never happened. No tickets since 1978. And I have had 2 Camaros, 1 GTO, 1 Nova, 1 Monte Carlo. And several other cars and trucks too. I just got lucky i guess. Cause I like to drive fast. Just not obviously. You gotta watch for the man. Know when and where he may or may not be. They usually follow a pattern. Plus it doesn't take much time or distance to put a Honda or an Accord in it's place. Usually just 2 gears

I've had my license since 1985, and I haven't had a ticket since 1989.

I still play as much as any guy with a fast car, but its all about being smart. I don't do anything crazy if I have anyone in the car with me. Killing/injuring a friend or family member due to my stupidity would be worse than dieing.

Agree with the above posters, SLO-ROLLIN 2nd gear in a Stang is more of an attention getter than flat out in 5th gear in any Fart-Can equipped Ricer

Yeah man Florida has some terrible drivers, I've had two tickets so far, both with lazers...i swear driving down some of the interstates is like flyin through vietnam lookin for snipers...they're always hiding tryin ta get ya. Back home in MD, the entire Montgomery County PD uses lazers, which turns my radar detector into an OH ISHT alarm. 51 in a 35, down hill passing a truck, and 87 in a 70 on Route-10 here in Florida.

As for racing, I mean when you buy a stang unless your old your not guna sit around and meander down the road at the speed limit...so lets not pretend any one is. Sure most of the time you will obey the law, but every now and again late at night...everyone does it...there are 2 cops here in Tally that are in the Mustang CLub here, one has a green 99 cobra and the other has a Mach 1, both are pushing more then stock hp. Like Wade said cops are just like us, same instinct. I know when you pull up to the line, and hear two engines growling...it's human nature that takes over...

Not advocating speeding/racing...but lets not be nieve here...ya pay the fine, do the time, and move on...

Thanks for the welcomes.. Ya im gonna have a fun time in traffic school.
2 things:

MINERAL GT - I see we have the same kind of Mustang. I like what you did with yours. My question is what do u suggest to do first with the Mineral GTs. What looks good and what doesn't??? I like the rims u got on ur ride. I guess im going more for looks for now then performance since performance is already preety good on Mustangs. Thanks for ur suggestions..

GRIMMZ - With the Seminole Icon and the fact that you live in Tally, im assuming you still go to FSU??? If so, sweet. Im graduating HS this year and will probably go to college up there and want to learn more about that Mustang Club up there.

Anyways, Ive already learned my lesson with those tickets and driving fast aint worth the penalties. Hopefully I can get this settled and get some points off of my license. I can already see im driving slower and at the speed limit.

I got my favorite stretch of road right before my neighborhood. It's a good 1 mile stretch of straight flat road. If I dont see headlights after work I'll romp it real good in 3rd and 4th. Like tonight. Hit 100 mph in no time. I really want to hit the strip one day and see if i can break 14 sec 1/4 mile. Bone stock GT put I SWEAR it's got some respectable top end pull. 3rd gear is really impressive IMHO. BTW ( not condoning speeding. I was trying to get a bug off my windshield)...

Yeah i'm a sophmore/junior next semester if things go my way. check out www.mustangfx.com for the info, the site is terrible though, but it does list some of the dates, its more of a nice gathering/social, not as big as i would like. I went down to the Steeda Stampede and met up with w01stang and his brother venom, floppy and pnnygurl. That was alot more fun. Theres def. alota stangs up here though. When you get up here next year just send me a pm. Hopefully i'll have alot more done seeing as i'll have money from the semester and summer...

I'll roll out of the hole a bit and then lay into the gas just enough to get a bit fishy. It's fun to show people that I don't have to drop the clutch to spin the tires.
