They're original VT Stage 2 cams from a couple years ago. They were used in a friend's car, so I paid $300 for the pair.

I'm always on the lookout for "The Deal" on more expensive items.

As much as i wanna jump around with my upgrades... Imma grit my teeth and stick to the plan... Gears installed, then long tubes, then cams, then im going all out on suspension and chassis stiffening.

Should probably get some tires and wheels that can handle that before you start getting to far into it. You're only as good as your tires.

Yeah, after seeing John's Bullitt, I priced some 17x9's/17x10's and tires and it came up to a lil over a grand. I will eventually get em, but for now, I'd rather spend that money on performance stuff. I don't really take my car to the track so for now, my current tires suit my purposes. But yes, wheels and tires are definitely on the list. Bullitt5339 just has deeper pockets that seem to fill back up faster than mine! LMAO i just can't keep up with his mod rate.

I'm probably a little bit older than you as well. I'm also medically retired from the Army because I got blown up in Iraq, so with that comes a retirement check, and disability from the VA. And then I've got a pretty good job on top of that.

It took a long time to get where I'm at now, so don't get discouraged. If you're 25 or under, you're doing better than I was at that time of my life. I've wanted a Bullitt since 2001 when they came out, and just was able to buy one last year finally.

Take care of the things that are important, like education and housing first, and then when all that's done, you can mod stress-free and actually enjoy it. The circumstances in which I am able to do this may seem nice, but I'd go back to living paycheck to paycheck to be able to walk without a limp, go out and play football with my kids again, and be able to go out running and exercising again. Living life without pain all the time is much better than the money.

As far as jumping around with upgrades, remember, I did wheels and tires first, then I've spent well over $2k in suspension work before I ever added anything besides a tune or off-road X. I would have to suggest this route, because the suspension rewards you every time you get into the car, not just the few times a year you get to the drag strip.

You're completely backwards, but whatev. The power is going to be uselesss, except for the fact that you can say I have xxxhp. You'll never get it to the ground so it doesn't matter in your plans. Trust me.

Is this happening at AJ's shop? I'll have to stop by and talk some smack...... Good luck with it, I hope it's worth all the time you've waited. I know you've been wanting to do this since I met you.
