With the whole "I have a south african friend" thingy, here is an amusing thing i ran scross.

A buddy of mine lived in South Africa for about a year, when he moved back he brought his South African girlfriend with her. She managed to obtain Duel Citizenships, meaning she was one of the few few "African Americans", and she wat a white blonde girl to boot!

OK, Here's my take on this one..

I grew up in a predomanetly white neighborhood. Not more than 1 mile away was the predomanetly black neighborhood. Keep in mind this was the 1960's and early 70's. Our schools were integrated, so we were intertwined at an early age. You aren't born a racist, that is a learned behavior. Some of my fondest memories of elementary school involves black and white kids, and maybe a hispanic or asian kid. Didn't matter to us kids, because we all had the common goal of school age children. Just to be kids and have fun.

Were my parents racists? Yes, to a certain point, but not extreme. Half the parents in my hood were though, so we were learning from their actions.

As I grew up, grades 1 thru 9 were the same, integrated and not without the occaisonal hater of either race.. But in high school it was easier to start the racist thing, because of the learned behavior we were exposed to at home.. someone black did this,or that, Blacks are bad. I really never fell into that group, But I didn't have many black friends that I would hang out with.. But as I see them today I just remember the good times we had in school, as do they.

My son is 17 and has friends of all races, and all are welcome in my house. I love to cook on the grill, and swim in the pool with all of them, as long as they respect me as I respect them..

Racism is still a big problem in this US because of the few bad apples of both races.. But it looks worse for the young black male because of the incarceration rate at which their numbers are reaching.. and it looks bad because of the percentages. This is not a 50/50 country of whites and blacks, But there are more whites than any other race in the US.

And I'm also sure that the reason is the learned behavior at home..

As I've gotten older I'm not a racist, I don't think I ever was, But I do realize who I can trust while I cross the street, black, white, or whatever..

This thread is stupid... I'm black and I'm 100% sure racism exist the same way that it did in the 40s and 50s thats why groups like the NAACP never left... Its easy to say things like this aren't needed when you don't experience the things that groups like this fight about.

 

Racism still exists because of because of things like NAACP and BET, etc. If white people had **** like that, or all white colleges... ... shiiiiiit would hit the fan.

 

The NAACP and BET don't put anyone down.... If you sit down and get mad over Black Entertainment Television you need some hobbies or something. The NAACP serves a good purpose. Its crazy to me how people can get so mad over that stupid ****... You're telling me there aren't any groups for white people?

 

Sure there is... there's the KKK, but you sure as hell won't see me having anything to do with those stupid *******. BET doesn't make me mad, it just gives me a half smile. Kind of like when Black people call each other the "N" word like it's nothing, but if it comes out of a white persons mouth... well... you know what I mean. By the way, just because African American organizations, or whatever the **** you want to call them, "don't do harm" , as you so ellequently stated; that doesn't mean they don't conserve racism & segregate you from the "racist white america".

 

The whole point is, is that is isn't fair. If we had the NAAWP, we'd be called racists and there is no denying that fact.

They damn sure make it sound like they are fighting for me, too, and that would be great. But the truth is that these groups aren't fighting for me, they just make it sound like they are to put a little sugar on top of the pile of crap that is their logic and ideals. I bolded certain parts to prove my point. If they are so concerned for the rights, liberties, and anti-discrimination of ALL people, why do they call themselves the NAACP? Why not call it the NAAAP the 'National Association for the Advancement of ALL People'? All these groups do is PROMOTE racial discrimination. If all of us should have equal rights, why not fight for all of us together? I mean, we all have the same civil rights. We all should abide by the same constitution. So why do black people get to have these types of organizations without being called racists? If someone set up a group that was solely to help white people progress, even if no racist undertones were involved, just to help white kids learn to read, write, set up after-school activities to promote the positive growth of personalities and actions, we'd be called racists and would probably have the FBI investigate us. If black people had that type of organization, they'd be hailed as heroes in their community!

Also, I see a hell of a lot of shows on TV about ****'s, KKK, etc. Yet I've never seen one about extremist groups like the Black Panthers.

The undenyable fact is that all of us of every color are discriminated against in some way, shape, or form. I think that some black people aren't as observant about the discrimination of white people as white people are of black people, because it is constantly drilled into our heads about how much suffering black people went through in the past. I'm sorry, but black people aren't the only people who have suffered. Jews and Christians have been persecuted for THOUSANDS of years. Slave labor was used to build the Egyptian Pyramids and some of Rome. Were those slaves black? Maybe some of them were, but there were white slaves working right next to black slaves then. Color wasn't an issue, but status was.

I get real tired of people crying because they are discriminated against. That is the way it is and that is always the way it will be. It shouldn't be like that, but it will remain. That is why groups like the NAACP aren't needed. They, along with other organizations of the same nature will never change personal human thoughts, nature, or experiences. To think that they will actually end all racism and discrimination is utter bullshit and just another reason why everything they stand for is false.

In a completely fair world, which is what these groups supposedly fight for, white people would be able to have WET, NAAWP, have our own colleges/universities/schools that are geared towards white people, all of which co-exist positively and peacefully with each other. But that will never happen because groups like the NAACP along with people who are quick to cry 'racists' like the Reverend Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will say that we're racists, even though we aren't, when we're just trying to be fair.

The media, the government, and organizations like the NAACP and ******** like Sharpton and Jackson are the enemy. They're the ones who are feeding this 'white people hate black people and black people hate white people' bullshit. I don't hate anyone, unless they're an idiot and we all know that idiots come in all colors. I won't allow anyone to speak for me.

If someone deserves my respect, they'll get it, regardless of their color, creed, nationality, etc. Another reason why I don't believe that any racial promotion organizations are relevant is that people shouldn't need to belong to those organizations to be fair and decent human beings. All we need is a good upbringing or the ability to positively think for ourselves. Those should be the things that are encouraged.

 

Let me know when there is a "White Entertainment Television" channel on TV or when Whites have the NAAWP...

If anyone brings up the slavery issue in conversation with me, I just laugh my *** off every single time. We hear talk in the media all the time about blacks wanting reparations for their forefathers, you want your reparations? You're getting them. Imagine where you would be had "The white man" not brought you to America in the first place. You would most likely be in an AIDS, disease ridden 3rd world tribe living in a straw hut. You know how slaves were found in the first place? Competing BLACK tribes would capture each other and sell their captives to the white man, so if anyone is to blame it is them, in all reality though, you should all be thankful because they got your asses out of a bad situation that will only get worse.

Talk about a pointless conversation.. This is one that will probably never end. The only hope we have of it ending would have to lye in the hands of the few highly educated black men (Like Alan Keyes) and women trying to help the rest of their community to see that Every man and woman regardless of race, ethnicity, background has just as much opportunity in this country as the other, but it will take hard work and dilligence to accomplish.

You can open up on me if this is how you feel, I just don't think its necessary. These Black organizations create the harm by creating the segregation. This thread isn't showing the ignorance in anyone. It's only showing the ignorance with our culture and our double standards. This isn't about race, it's about fairness. The fact is that if black people can have these kinds of organizations, it should be open to no debate that white people and hispanic people should be able to have them, too. Things should be FAIR BETWEEN ALL RACES. That is what this thread is about.

Also, I haven't seen anyone on here spurting any racist views or even making racist comments. Now that would be ignorant. I think so far that this has been an intelligent thread full of ideas and opinions, all of which should be respected. People shouldn't be called 'stupid' because they don't agree with you.

See, the reason why people can't have conversations like this is because a lot of people are afraid to 'stir the pot' and rightfully so. But I'm not. My views aren't something I'm ashamed of. I don't feel embarrassed at all talking about this. In fact, I feel pretty damn good about it. I think this topic needs to be talked about more openly. Then again, if it was, then we would see real ignorance.

I have some very strong feelings on this topic, mostly pertaining to ingorance and ignorant behavior from both white and black races, neither side is immune.

I completely understand. I just don't see how anyone that reads and comprehends properly can get anything lost in translation. Everything is pretty direct, to the point, easy to understand (even mine and Chris's ramblings! )

But is easy to understand how some may take things the wrong way. Words can be missed, lines can be looked over, especially when people just skim over and don't read the entire post.
