Default The Mustang V6 Discussion

Quote:
yes mustang v-6 are pathetic but mustang Gt 5.0s arent
Are you absolutely kidding me? The v6 has 190 hp, the GT 5.0 had 215... whoa big difference. Ya know, some people dont buy mustangs because they are "fast". Heck if you want fast you better not buy anything less than a mach 1 or cobra. Though do you think the mach 1, and cobra would be around if there wasnt a v6 someone payed for around every single corner?

Without the v6, mustangs wouldnt even be around. To say its pathetic is just stupid.

Discuss.

I would completely agree.

I would like to see what the production numbers are, I was only able to find one site that listed some stats.. but what they said is:

"For the 2000 model year, a grand total of 218,525 Mustangs were produced by Ford which included all V6 and GT models. There were about 30% GT's made of this number. These totals were up by over 70% from the 1999 sales. Here is the breakdown of exterior colors sold for the entire year. Again these totals include V6 and GT. No Cobras were produced this year due to the massive recall of the 1999 Cobra. Compare these figures to the Chevy Camaro in which only 45,417 were produced for the 2000 year. "

This is from: http://www.yellowmustangregistry.com/Production00.html

So that pretty much sums it up really!

You have to remember that the 190 and 215 are peak hp numbers, Thats why the 95 5.0 is faster than the 96 4.6, both have 215 peak hp but the 5.0 has a flatter curve. Drive a V-8 and you won't like your 6 anymore

Yeah, that is very true but a lot of people cant afford a v8 but their still able to buy a v6 mustang at a much cheaper price. So why, would people give crap to v6 owners? I loved my v6 mustang... it was pretty slow (duh) but it still looked awesome if you asked me.

^^you know how many ricers say stuff like that...Its slow but it looks good
Buy you're right without v6 buyers and people that buy them for looks there would be no GT, cobra, ect. Thats why there are no more camaros. Just most of the people that "tune" mustangs do it to make them faster hence the reason that v6 owners are ridiculed. No hard feelings though

who the hell cares. if you have a v6 and want respect make it mean and rape some v8 owners. until then live with what you settled for. not saying they are pathetic cars, just quit whining and do something with the car. gt guys dont whine about cobra guys raggin on em, instead they do what i did and make a monster of a gt

There are more sides to this story. You get what you can pay for at the time you buy. Case in point. Before I bought my GT, I saw a coworkers stang. V-6 white with offset sized rims. (wide back, stock front) and dual pipes out the back. He had fog lights installed and even had a GT bumber. He had his car looking pretty good. That's his baby and he loves it. He knows it aint a hot rod. Just a good looking stang. I got a GT with the premium package. 04, bullitt wheels, all leather, 5 spd manual, mach stereo, Top of the line for a stock GT. I know it aint a hot rod. But it's my baby. I love my car. Would I like a Mach 1 or a Cobra. Hell yeah. I would have loved to be able to purchase one at the time. Everytime I see a mach 1 or a cobra I get chills. Thumbs up dude or dudette. You have my respect. I'll just do what I can with MY GT as time and money are available.

But I am glad I have a lowly GT as compared to a v-6 stang. Same as mach 1 and cobra owners think of GT owners. :tongue5:

There is always someone with a faster car, bigger shlong (sp?), or hotter wife.

Stop pooking fun at the 6'ers. They are stangs and that is all that matters. 6'ers are stangs too, plain and simple.

Anyone with a GT that laughs at a 6'er should have they butts handed to them daily by snakes.

If it wasnt for V6 sales their will not be a GT and even less a Cobra. As V6 owners gain more income they end up getting a GT or Cobra so be nice to Future owners of V8s.

99-04

the 05 V6 has over 200 hp

comparing a 99+ v6 to a 94-96 GT is really a silly comparison. go year to year and compare technology of the same era.

Where the GT really shines over the V6 is in the torque curve.
