Default deciding on a graphics card

ok, i am looking at a new graphics card for my computer i am building...
they all are BFG because i heard they are really nice and fast for the price. if you know a better company to run with please tell me..
here are found all different prices. (if you know a better one please tell my i want to stay under $400)
which one would be the best for some gaming (when i buy some more)
but mostly movie watching and internet browsing
https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion...WishListTitle=

also have heard good things about Firegl, any thoughts

going to run:
Asus m2r32-mvp motherboard
AMD athlon 64 X2 4400+ (overclocked)
2-4 gb ram (depends on what i get for b-day)
850-1000 Watt power supply (not sure which yet)
as of right now a 250 gb hard drive internal (IDE)
and a IDE DVD player/ripper
(when i get the money i am going to put 2 750 gb SATA internal ran at RAID 0)

my O/S will be Windows XP professional (maybe dual booted with Linux Ubuntu 7.10)

Thanks
Steven

wow, nice..

ohh also just for ppl to know.. even if it has noise it won't bother me. i am running an old server sleeve style box with 3 120mm fans. and they are louder than anything i put in the box.. but it keeps things really cold.. ran my hd for a week took it out and there was barely any heat on it!!

I'm not a big Radeon fan, but I guess its acceptable. Why are you so hellbent on overclocking? THere isn't going to be much of a need to.

And, imo, Intel is handing AMDs *** with the dual core stuff. I've used both... I'd say intel.

i am all hellbent on over clocking because it gives me something to do when i am bored... i go and slightly change the MgHz but +1 and then when that hits top you add a little voltage. till you absolutialy can't go any higher... tis just something you can mess around with and not have the same effects..

fun i guess...

and from what i have run (not dual core) amd beats intel. But its more of a personal preference..

You need to try out both of the dual processors then. AMD for a single processor does kick intels ***. but the dual core technology intel has got them.

the problem is i just got a new amd motherboard for x-mas, and i am on a small budget so i can't just go out buy an intel board and new processor..

ohh and anything good about the amd quad core??
or is intel handing it to them in that area to??

but honestly since i already have the board if i could upgrade my processor i would go with the amd 64X2 6000+ Black edition...

AMD > Intel.. Plain and simple.

AMD gives great speed and consistant reliability while continuing to keep the temperatures down.

BUT in all reality there is no one processor that is better than the other based on specs, it's all about what you're planning on using it for.

Intel is awesome for gaming, imo. Been using it since the dual core came out.

Single core..well AMD.

But they are both great..either way..ya

Since you've got an AMD board..

Go with the processor you named, lol.

I have no idea about the quad cores...

Just check out on newegg.com ALSO if you haven't built a computer yet..you need to make sure everything is going to match up, just keep that all in mind. ;x

this is my second computer to make, my last was 2 years ago..
but honestly i have been planning most of this computer reading on things for the past 3 months...

ohh and IMO AMD > Intel.
always have always will till something better comes, and amd is also better for graphics in general...

plus they are easier to OC (make faster) and stay way cooler..

Meh. My dual core on my laptop does just fine for gaming =)

Used AMD Athlon for quite a while though, so I was partial till I got this. So far, its been awesome. I have no reason to OC..so I don't even jump into them.

well honestly i won't have to oc my amd it will run at 2.2 ghz as is.. but why not boost it up to 2.7 ghz.. and yes if you say that is low.. i have a lower one.

the 6000+ that i want starts off at 2.8 or 3.0 can't remeber ghz dual core and can be oc'd almost into the 4 ghz range...
