Default Yes, this will completely highlight & emphasize my ignorance, but...

What's so different between a car engine and a motorcycle engine, that cars redline around 6,000RPM, but motorcycles redline in the 10,000 - 12,000 - 14,000RPM range?

Also, valvetrain limits on a cars motor, but he's right, it all goes back to the stroke being smaller and the parts weighing less.

The reason for motorcycles revin SOOO high is that the pistons make shorter strokes...

Our cars make longer strokes

Default Maybe, or maybe not.

The NASCAR standard V8 often revs past 9500 rpms on the short tracks.

The F1 v8's turn over 16k RPM as well. All goes back to design, stroke, valve train, etc.

F1 and Indy cars are only 3.0L too, that pisses me off so much.

they need to be... they have very short strokes which befit with accelration...

indy cars arent built for top end speed or far launching from a dig... they are meant to take corners fast and come out of corners fast...

it should piss you off unless you want to road race... in that case you are better off with another car... like a german car or rx7 etc...

lol...
