Default Need help please!

Hey guys I'm having trouble with my car it's an 03 gt. The problem is that it makes a wierd noice in the rear wen I have it in 4th gear and going around 45-55 mph. A friend told me that it could be the gear oil being to low. What do y'all think? Thank you for any help!

What kind of weird noise is it? More like a grind (a rougher sound) or like a higher pitched noise like a whine?

Also, what is the mileage on your car? Any mods we should be aware of?

No I don't think it's because of high rpms. I have them at 2500 or so in fourth gear and it makes that noice. It's only in the fourth and a little bit in the fifth gear. It doesnt do that noice in 1st 2dn and 3rd gear

My ex had kinda the same problem...except he drives a honda civic and just all of a sudden outta no where it started to make this odd noise when he reached about 80MPH and so he took it to Les Schwab and had a friend drive the car and come to find out it was the inner wheel well one of the pieces was pushing in and rubbin the tire and so he zip tied it and it hasnt made a noise since...could be the same..

Ok I'll check. But the thing is that it does that noice wen I release the gas pedal. Wen I'm pushing it I can barely here it but as I release it, it becomes loud

Is it a 5 speed or Auto, If its a 5 speed do you have an aftermarket short shifter cause they make some weird noises when cruising in 4th and 5th.

take the plug out of the rear should be able to use a 3/8" drive socket wrench and use the square were the socket goes to remove the plug. When you remove the plug if fluid comes out or you can feel fluid with your finger in the top its full. If not buy some gear oil and squeeze it in until it runs out of the hole.

I can't remember off the top of my head but I believe its one the driveshaft/pinion side of the rear near the top or center of the pumpkin, should be near the pinion seal. Its not like a bolt that sticks out, its a plug with a square drive and it sits flush on the differential
