So for my birthday i got the cheaper subframes from AM.com from the parents. I just had a freind weld them on sat. Here is my thoughts on it.

I wont lie and say they are the best. They arent, they didnt fit well at all and both were not flush with the floor like they should. This left a gap of at the worst was 1/4" on one side. This isnt good for welding them on. So we were forced to tac the front of the subframes on, then use the lift to push them up closer to the bottom of the car. This helped but still not flush. We used some scrap steel to slide in between them and the cars unibody and weld up the front section.

The rear on both sides lined up very well and were flush (thank god for that). Did 2 stich welds on the back on both sides and they were mounted up. Went back to the front and did 2 more stich welds leaving 3 on the front on both sides and 2 on the back. Just hit the front and rear welds up with some paint once they had cooled so they wouldnt rust and i was off.

Right off the lift just sitting in the car it felt different. It felt stiffer stronger more sound if you will. backing down the driveway it was alot stiffer and had less noise from the car as i made an unlevel turn onto the street. Driving it down the road it felt more hard and straight. Like i was really connected to the road better. Its a rather weird feeling at first its like you feel the road more.

So far i love them only driven 10 miles so far with them but they have been nice ones. Car lauches alot better now also, which is awsome in my book.

Even those these didnt fit well anyone installing them can handle the small fitment problems you may or might not get (maybe i am just lucky?). I would recomend these to anyone looking to stiffen the car up on the cheap, and dont know what to get. Now i just need to get my rear built so i can go out and blow my tranny to peices on the track .

 

i was thinking of getting some MM full length subframes soon but the ones on american muscle arent coated and everyone says get the coated ones

 

SFC's are one of those little things that you really don't know how badly you needed them until you have them. After I installed mine, I wondered how I could have ever driven it before without them. The car suddenly took on a more solid feel. It felt that with SFC's, the suspension was now doing most of the work instead of my unibody twisting as it did before.

If you don't have SubFrame Connectors.......you need them! If you don't believe me now, you will once you get them installed.

I got the good Maximum Motorsports ones and love them. Remember, if it's a choice between MM and another brand, get the Maximum Motorsports you won't regret it.

 

The cheap ones come powder coated black which is great to keep them from rusting out, and also the ends are capped close which is also nice.

But i would agree you can tell the suspsion is working alot more then it used to when it comes to going around a corner.

 

guess i need to move subframe up alittle higher on my "to-do" list...

 

I have full lenth MM subframes and they are awesome. Lots of welding to install though, they have alot of little pieces and gussets. Great product.

Really tightened up my vert. I could tell a huge difference going over bumps and curbs.

 

welp, thats next on my list. lol. and for those who want to get the powder coated ones, if you get the bare steel, just paint them with auto paint and put a lot of layers/clear coat on and you should be fine

 

people may want to consider the Steeda full lengths. they're the same (quality) as the MM, but the gussets are already welded. plus they're fully zinc plated and the same price as MM.

 

Ive been interested in the MM full lengths but im hesitant to buy something like that. I dont know of anyone who I trust welding these in. good info on the steedas though comporange. id be more willing to buy steedas over MM now.

 

Has anyone considered or tried the Evolution Motorsports subfame connectors? The design of them seems very neat w/ the integrated drive shaft loop and cross brace. Here's what I'm talking about:

Those look really nice but 275 is kinda steep for some mandrel bent steel tubing, dont you think?

I'm sure on eBay they'd be 1/2 the price but I was curiuous, since I was considering them. They also offer a single upper control arm conversion kit and a Watts linkage kit. They have a lot of cool $hit for the 79-04 Mustangs.
