Default Clutch compatibility

Hi,

I have a 99 GT and the transmission bearing is going out so I'm getting it replaced, while I'm getting it replaced I'm putting a new clutch in it. It has a stock clutch in it right now but I'm going to put a stage 1 in it. I was thinking about the SPEC stage 1, is that compatible with the stock transmission? Also, does anyone know of a better stage 1 clutch that can be installed to a stock transmission?

Thanks

yes...any clutch is compatible w/ the stock transmission..its just the type of clutch to your power you need to worry about..if ur spending the money, go with the Stage II cutch. no-one i have talked to was satisfied and went to a stage II and loved it..

also...make sure it fits the T-45 tranny that the 99's came with

Would you suggest the Stage 2 SPEC or a King Cobra? I've been looking at previous posts and a lot of good things about the King Cobra and a lot of bad things about the SPEC's...

yep, but do yourself a favor and get a ford throw out bearing and pilot bearing as the specs tend to go bad fast.

unless you have a few mods and are making extra power... the stock clutch is fine... cheaper to get 1 from napa then pay extra for something ya don't need

I plan to add mods to it soon, so want to go ahead and get a clutch that can handle it.

Also, http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...10002_89536_-1 and http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0002_123541_-1 for the bearings? Would those work with the SPEC 2?

stock clutch can handle anything til you get to being supercharged, turbod, or a bad NA setup...

unless you want to race it...

So for bolt ons I wouldn't bother with an expensive clutch

Yeah, a Kenne Bell is definentaly coming Don't want to have to spend that extra money to put a stage II in in order to get a KB when I can go ahead and get one put in while the transmission is out for the bearing. Btw, are those the pilot and throwout bearings I'd need in the above post?

Thanks
