Default Steeda oil seperator

I bought a Steeda oil seperator a few days before r3dn3ck and a few others had posted up about the kits. When I got it there were problems, the hose didn't fit, two of the screws were too big for the bracket, and the filter is really small(which is fine for me because I wont put that many miles on it).

I called Steeda and they said to call stangmods.com where I ordered it from, I did and they said they would take it back but I decided to make it work since it is a universal kit if I sent it back for another one the same problem would occur.

My questions is, is the plastic tube (that goes accross the intake manifold that is apart of the PCV system) needed? To make the kit work I am going to need to bypass this plastic piece and I thought it might be one of those things Ford intended to keep on the car when using the PCV setup.

Again so for it being so long but I need help ASAP. Thanks

yeah there is a elbow that comes off the drivers side valve cover and then there is about a foot and a half long plastic piece of pipe about 1/2 inch in diameter connects the elbow to one of the bungs on the CAI. Do i need that plastic pipe?

I would hook it up to that piece but the hose that Steeda gave me was 3/8" and that wouldnt fit it so I went out and got 7/16" and that wont fit either so what I did was use the 3/8" from the drivers side valve cover to the oil seperator because the 3/8" fits the supplied elbows. From the oil seperator I am going to run a section of 3/8" using a straight connector to connect the piece of 7/16" to the 3/8". Then from there I am going to connect the 7/16" right into the hose thats on the bung of the CIA. Therefore bypassing the plastic piece all together. But can i do this without having any problems? this may seem like a stupid question but i just want to make sure.

jesus christ guys... this is pretty simple stuff. Lemme splain before you break something.

The tube from the CAI to the driver side valve cover is the breather line. It NEEDS to connect from the CAI. The PCV side goes from PCV valve to the filter then to the plenum from the filter.

The PCV system is a balanced system. As air is sucked in through the PCV valve into the plenum it is not being directly metered. The air that gets sucked into the crankcase to replace the outbound PCV air comes from the main intake snorkel and IS metered. Thus we have the PCV-plenum air metered in a sort of bass-ackwards way. If you don't let it stay metered then you'll end up pulling a code for lean on banks 1&2. I know... I've tested it. It's no different than a vacuum leak to the ECU.

If you need help and/or instructions, let me know via PM. If you want to pay my cost on them, I can fab up some AN lines so that steeda piece won't develop the common problems of my gen1 design. lines and fittings aren't cheap but they look better and work better.

You're supposed to put it in the line going from the pass. side cover to the plenum. You cant remove the line going from the drivers side cover to the inlet tube unless you also remove the one going from the pass. side cover to the plenum, thus removing the entire system. So in other words, you cant remove just part of it you have to remove all of it and make minor adjustments via tune.

Its needed for street cars... the only reason to lose it is if you are building a race motor...

I suggest you take r3dn3ck's advice
