Default pcv help..

i have an 03 gt, does any one know if that engine has a replacable pcv? I work at a murray's auto parts, but everytime i try to look it up I cant find one made for my car. its not in the computer, nor in any catalog. Im pretty sure its on the driver side valve cover, it looks like its threaded into it. any help would be great.

well first the cost is highter because it is a heated PCV valve and Ford parts will be higher than "parts-store parts" just because Ford parts are held to a higher standard then the aftermarket. now I know you work in a parts store so don't take this to personel but aftermarket parts for Ford products should be avoided at all times. items like PCV valves, TPS, IAC's, IAT's, O2's, fuel pumps, coils, ECM's and more. again this is not a shot at you or your company, its just that FoMoCo designs a part to work within certian parameters, ie: A to C and then the aftermarket opens-up these parameters for the part to work between A thru E (to fit other appts, Ford or brand X) and by opening-up these parameters wth aftermarket parts, performance suffers as the ECM is looking for A to C and see's A to E and the next thing you know, you have a MIL, stalling issues, hard starts and more. just a word to the wise, I know I spout-off alot about Ford and I don't do-it just to see a profit from "ME" selling parts but rather to educate the rest of the commuinity.

it should be on the passenger side valve cover directly under the air inlet tube. It is on my 03gt. And as for Ford parts... yeah, I've found Ford parts to always work to my expectations. Aftermarket parts... you really have to know what exactly you're looking at and for. Stick with Ford OEM parts.

you can knock aftermarket all you want, in fact motorcarft is the only oem brand that offers lifetime warranties on there stuff. mopar, and ac is mostly 1 year. I always try to put ford parts on my car, hell i bought a ford fuel filter cause its the only one made in the USA, every other one ac, fram, gk is made oversea's.

so its the passanger side under the intake tube.,.ty ill go check it out. i thought it was the the other vacum hose on the driver side because thats all i noticed goin back into the air intake system.

yeah... that's the breather side.the PCV goes in to the plenum without being metered by the maf, so to balance out the maf reading they tapped the other side (the breather sucks in the air the PCV lets out) from the intake tube which is maf metered. You shouldn't need to replace it though unless your miles are pretty high.

my car just rolled 42k, i was wanting to do it as general maintance and just replace it. i just did my fuel filter and a coolant flush is up next, Im part of the school that does what needs to be done way before anyone really thinks about it. I what this car to last and taking care of it is the key to that.
