Default May have a problem...

On Friday i will be having my MM XL Full Length frame connectors welded, but i see a possible problem. The driver side catalytic converter heat sheild on my MRT H pipe is right next to the frame. I think this may be a problem when welding the connector. On the passenger side i could fit my finger between the converter and frame, which leaves a little bit of room for welding, unlike on the other side. What do you guys think about this? Is this going to be a problem? When i looked at the MM directions/pictures, the convertors are no where near the frame.

It will be fine, there is always a way around things like this, they might have to take the pipe off....Where are you getting it done?? i am in the chicago area too!

Ya. That's what i don't want. I don't want to have to pay for an extra hour of labor. Area One Motorsport in Franklin Park installed the h pipe, and I'm having Speed Inc. in Schaumburg do the frame connectors.

They only weld the subs in certain places.

mm full length connectors weld on at several spots but not normally down the whole length. In any case, I've never had to take any thing off a car to zap subs on. If they whine about it, weld their ear to the car and tell them to quit being money grubbing theives and just weld the damn subs up.

What is Speed charging for the weld job? I've got the BBK bolt on ones on my car but I might get them welded in also.

a word of advice... bolt on subframes are WORTHLESS. weld them on or take them off. Don't want to hurt your feelings but that's the way it is. No bolt on sub frame connector is worth two squirts of cold pee until it's been welded up.

What if I have 24 grade 8 bolts holding them in? They hold my Cat Equipment
together just fine. If you've ever looked at your mustang it's held together with a lot of bolts. Would you weld your heads to the block to make it stronger? My feeling aren't hurt but yours might be.

They said they charge $125 for the MM full lengths, and they also paint the welds.

Sorry, but r3dn3ck is right. The whole point of subs is to keep the body from flexing. A lot of things are held together with bolts which is exactly why they flex. If they arent welded they are half ***. Same thing goes for a bolt in roll bar. And no, you dont weld heads because they need to be removed every now and then.

$125 is a fine price.

I don't think there was any problem with the install. Had the frame connectors welded in today. Big difference! Our cars should come stock with these. No more shake fests when going over rail road tracks, pot holes, or bumps. Cost me $125, which I believe was rely good deal. This other shop was trying to screw me, telling me that it would take 4-6 hours and the carpet has to be pulled. So far I am very satifsfied.
