I don't see there being a problem with the knock sensor. It is the MAF sensor that has its airwaves modified by the loud exhaust. It is like bumping a set of 12's and cracking open your window. The airwaves move back and forth and it screws up the airflow reading.

I don't have that problem as I am running speed density with no maf.

Now did someone say they wanted to run the wimpy stock turbo?

Just a little safc basic fuel controller. Not the maftpro we currently use.

Tell ya what, put my mustang next to yer evo, 5-6 feet away, Ill get on it and bust it up to 5800 rpm, put a mic in the evo's engine, you wont hear yer evo. Im running straights, trust me, it IS that loud.

Now, here is something from an EVO Owner....

"Make sure you're cammed with a good deal of lift and run open exhaust. The noise will pull timing and add fuel. Make sure you keep the racket consistant because the evo will recover in a second. If you keep it noisy long enough he will have to reset the battery to run the proper maps."

I just couldn't resist posting this vid. It will give you an idea of what the 06evo's are capable of in the right hands. Please don't take offense, just having fun. It has taken me a long time to perfect the launch in the awd platform, but once you get it figured out the evo will do consistent 1.7 60's on the stock drivetrain. It is really easy to misshift in these cars also. And it definitely doesn't have the feel of the pro 5.0 or tri ax shifter My 06 evo is completely stock except for intake, exhaust, and ecu reflash.

Yeah well obvously 30 feet that aint gonna happen. I never said anything about a drag strip, maybe i should have clarified a little bit more, or maybe you should have read my post again before you started assuming anything.. I never said anything about racing, just that a loud enough exhaust setup could screw with some faulty knock sensors that were put in.

Ive just heared this far too often, and now there are a couple evo owners who explain why it would happen.

So far ive heared this mention on various mustang boards, several dodge boards (where i first heared it, the Dodge turbo deisel trucks owners were the first ones to report this happening, but it was a bit more generic, just that real loud noises coul screw up an evo), also seen a mention on it once on SRT-4mation (got those guys are idiots though).

Ya know, most myths are reported on actual facts then embellished. But usually there is a degree of truth behind it.

There is really no reason for you to get all butthurt over this. I never slammed on an evo, i got all the respect in the world for em (still dont like em, not my style, but i respect them).

But if you wanna sit there and deny what other evo owners are saying is a possibility, go ahead, be my guest.

As far as if i wanted it to be true, i could care less, i was just curious.

So go blow yerself and go back to yer evo board. Other evo owners have posted on here without getting all butthurt, maybe you should take thier example.

If they werent, they would read voltage at ANY noise. I truly hope that you dont speak for the rest of the 'Stang drivers. I mean go blow myself???? Would be interesting to see the 1/4 mi times this car runs.

Allthough I don't necesarily agree with the "Evo's aren't squat" I would have to admit this GT appears to have sound forced fed setup.

However, in regards to the orginal question in the thread on "what would be required to take a stock Evo at the strip" he nicely points out a blower should suffice. Well this is where it gets tough to say, 03 and 04 Evo 8's would be the easiest, 05's will be a little tougher, but to beat a stock 06 Evo (1/4 mi) the super charged GT would need whp upwards of say an 04 Cobra and a driver that can use it. Nonetheless, in any race with fairly modest cars, the better driver will win.

Hey buddy, i came on here and asked a simple damn question about something i had heared, i wasnt claiming it was true. All i did was ask, and you come in telling me im dumb.

First off, i never mentioned it being at the track or even being at a race. I just asked if anyone had heared of this and you decide to insult me by calling me dumb.

2nd, I respond and instead of being an ass i remained to be civil and polite, then you come back on telling me it aint true "no matter how much i want it to be true" which i found rather insulting, like i said i never claimed it was true, i never said i wanted it to be true, honestly, it aint something i even think about except when i hear it time to time.

So there is twice where you were rather disrepectful to me for no reason at all. I asked a damn question. Other evo owners addressed the topic without being rude. You chose to bee rude.

Im not one of those dip****s who "lives life at 1/4 mile at a time" My mustang is just another hobby i have, not a lifestyle, so i dont really care if somebody else could beat my car or not.

Ever think about turbocharging a GT?

Check the white car out. Even though he needs 4 lanes to make it down the track it does show another option of forced induction. The yellow one is centrifugal.

There are twin turbo setups for Mustang GT's.
I'd love to do a twin turbo or supercharger, but yer lookin at 5-6k to have that done. The internals of the GT are not forged either, so forced induction will drop the life span of the engine unless you get it built.

I got 4:10's im STILL waiting to get installed. Just a matter of getting a little money and going out and having it done. After that ive been toying with the idea of a nitrous setup with 100 shot. Easy way to get the speed and spend far far less. Plus the nitrous would only be tearing up my engine when i want it to
