do i need the bearing kit when installing the gears

you need a install kit. Bearing kit is for new axle bearings etc.. and is more money. A regual install kit is much cheaper assuming you dont need all new bearings.

when installing gears is there anything special to it or is it just pop the gears right in and good to go, by that i mean once the gears are installed is there anythig else that has to be done to the gears

gears have to be shimmed properly and the lash and pinion depth set. It's not something that any ol' dude should even attempt. Thousandths of an inch count. Other than installing them, and doing the break in (which I never do) that some people like, no there's really nothing special after the install... but the install is a tedious PITA at times and requires special tools.

im still working on that im probably going to paint it after my engine swap that way i can paint the engine bay as well and i wont have to worry about anything happening to the paint with any of the engine work
