Default tranny trouble

i have a 1990 lx 5.0 currently with a 5-spd that is junk. i am looking to swap to an automatic. anyone have any suggestions on a good aftermarket trans? right now i have about 350 horsepower, but i need a tranny to handle up to 600 or 650 horsepower. i plan on doin alot of mods in the near future and do not want to have to replace it AGAIN

Well if you want a drag racing 5-speed the only tranny is the tremec TKO 500 or TKO 600. This is a nice beefy 5 speed that while heavy is a beefy stronge tranny.

If you want a 6speed then you would want a modded Tremec T-56. The modded ones can handle up to 1,000hp. The regular T-56 can hold 650ft lbts which might be all you need. But it isnt the best Drag racing tranny.

So in short for a drag car the TKO is the way to go, for a street monster you might wanna use the T-56 so you can run taller gears and have lower rpms on the highway.

keep it stick you will thank me. If you were going full hardcore drag racing a auto would be the ticket, because we just cant shift as fast as an auto. But thats me. I dont have any experience with TCI though sorry. Only used some tranny coolers from them.
