I can't see why you wouldn't. 125,xxx can be a drag to an engine, but if it's not broke or bad, why rebuild it to stock specs?

hard to explain on internet...
You have to disasblme the whole motor... new bearings lifters, rods, everything gets replaced...

show a link to the rebuild kit

if you simply rebuild the motor to stock specs it wont make any more power, unless you have compression, ring problems and the motr isnt runninga t 100% as of now. The only way you will gain power in a rebuild (talking about the short block not heads etc..) would be to increase the displacment. You cna do this by boreing out the cyclinders and thus you can run larger pistons which means more air is moved and thus more CI. or you cna stroke the motor which means the piston travels longer and father giving more CI again gaining power. What you should bulid depends on what your gonna do to the motor aka nitrous, blower, trubo huge boost n/a monster race gas heads etc.. you really should talk to a engine builder about what you would like your cars final motor setup ot be and they can hook you up with all the info you need, assuming there any good.

If your gonna push a ton of psi dont bore the crap out of the walls you wanna keep them thick to hold the power safley. I woudl just do a 306 and turbo it or a 331 and turbo it. With a turbo you dont need to go crazy with monster storkers and large bores the turbo will make that power for you. I also would get a different block. Like the mexican block or a A4 block are awsome and hold alot of power.

Just because your building a turbo 306 or 331 doesnt mean its a race car. I'm just saying dont bore the crap out of the walls keep them thick and they will hold the power besides the turbo is gonna be making all the power for you.

I would rebuild it but i would stroke it to a 331. Or do like i did and get a crate motor. I bought the GT-40 long block with aluminum Y heads and E303 cam, 320 HP they have a 345 HP motor with the X heads. 6 years ago i paid 3200 bucks for it but it's probably a tad cheaper now.

Probe industries 347 stroker kit, almost bulletproof and worth every penny. my buddy just finished his up and what a difference he also went with the trickflow track heat top end and it is a ton of fun and is still perfectly streetable. just sone food for thought
