+2 to that. the inch size is only a measurement of the ring gear diameter. It's not a measurement of strength.

The vette IRS is a neat thing. The car was built around it, instead of the IRS being built around the car like the IRS cobras. If you want to beat on a ford live axle, then build up a 8.8, or upgrade all the way to the nearly unbreakable Ford 9".
