Unhappy Head Gasket

I purchased my 94 3.8L V6 Mustang from a private owner. It has had only one owner and seemed to be in good condition. We did a vin number check to make sure it had not had any accidents and even had a mechanic check it over. I purchased for a reasonable price and drove it home. It was great then after a year of having it things started to go down hill. We ended up having to replace the head gasket. We called ford to see if there was a recall and there was but they said it had already been taken for my car. (The owner did not mentionn this). Then about six months later the transmission began to act funny... We ended up having to get that fixed (not a new one just some sensor that had gone bad... we then replaced the radioator and carborator... And finally I almost could killed because the brake line broke in half for no apparent reason...We then purchased new seats and mustang wheels for it..... and then it happened.... I was running errands about an hlaf hour away from my home..... There was a bridge as I made it to almost the top of the bridge everything in the car "popped" (dont no a better word to describe what happened.... I looked behind me and there was stesm coming out the back of the car and antifreeze everywheer it was even coming out of the vents in the hood.... Well I was only on the top of the bridge at this point and didn't think i was going to make it over.... I did and then had my car towed back to a local mechanic... IT WAS THE HEAD GASKET AGAIN... THIS MAKES THE THIRD ONE FOR MY CAR.....

Purchased for : $ 3,000
Put into it: $6,000

Has anyone else had this much trouble with their car???? I am at my wits end... I dont know if I should fix it or trash it.....

You know, that was something that was brought up to me before I bought my V6 from friends of mine... for some reason I believe the V6 is known for blowing it's head gasket after so many miles... but from what I've gathered from other V6 owners is it only has gasket trouble if the car's been beat to hell all the time, ie. punchin' it in all the time ect...... i don't think that helps at all but just to let you know that I share the concern.

I agree, sell it to some unsuspecting buyer and then buy a fox body cobra.

94-95 stangs are known to blow head gaskets. I recomend you get a free flowing exhaust this could help out a bit. There is almost nothing you can do aluminum heads on a cast iron block is the dumbest thing they could of done. One cools faster then the other causing the gaskets to warp to hell after awhile.

Yea up luckily for the 96+ 3.8L V6's head gasket problems are almost a thing of the past. Obviously you could get a bad gasket but as far as a grand scale goes the 96+ sixers got that fixed.

Now I noticed you said you got your carborator fixed or replaced? You don't have a carborator on your 94. You must be confused with something else.

My advice to you would be go to a junk yard find a 96-98 3.8L engine and swap it.

There is another set of heads he could thow in there. Not sure if they would work without the lower intake but supercoupe heads have better cooling passages and will fit. I also have a set i could sell you.
