I think people that bought GT's "shoulda got a cobra, mach, etc..." haha.

the gillz 10-07-2009 11:51 AM

yeah tell a Gt owner "yeah well you shoulda got a cobra" and see what kind of reaction you get. that would be hilarious, i gotta try that.

When people try and give me shit about my V6, I usually say look its not the fastest, loudest or best looking car on the road, but she is paid off, she is shiny, and she is all MINE.

INtZ 10-07-2009 01:21 PM

Since i bought my sixxer i've driven a GT, it got much better gas miilage, was way faster, looked better, sounded better, cost about the same as mine(with the exception of inssurance), and was WAY funner drag racing, autoxing, and other exploits of general asshatery. I'm not proud of my v6, I should've bought a GT, i fail, but i dont need people reminding me of that by telling me to get a GT. Im also in school, and unless i get a sick paying job, win the lottery, or total the mf-er, im stuck with 6 cylinders

K.G.B. 10-07-2009 01:44 PM

hahaha this threads just make dissapointed at owning a v6 :(

JackThe Ripper 10-07-2009 02:44 PM

How come every year a new variation of this thread seems to pop up on here over and over? and then people can showcase all thier witty responses?

this place is not exactly unaccepting of V6 mustangs.

seems that somebody is feeling a little bit insecure.

guess what

maybe you SHOULD have gotten a GT.

;)

HAhaha. It's funny that the one's that bring up the threads are the one's who own a V6. I don't give a crap what you have, just don't bring it up and nobody will care. I like my GT, I couldn't get a cobra at the time, but oh well. I was happy with my car when I got it, and I'm happy now. I'll be even more happy Friday afternoon when the damn thing finally gets tuned with the Vortech on it.

Oh and to the guy who said it's more fun modding a V6 rather than a V8, how so? I've modded mine fromt he ground up as you say. I think someone is just trying to make up for the fact that they didn't go with the V8. If you beat GTs, it's because they can't drive.

JackThe Ripper 10-07-2009 03:06 PM

YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A V8

BLazE 10-07-2009 07:11 PM

I just want to go up to a guy with a GT and say, "You should have got a V6."

No my V6 i got is just funner to MOD in IMO
im going from the lowest in stock hp to adding from ground up. Im not saying its not fun to Mod GTs i think u just need to chill out dude. I mean i coulda bought a V8 but for the price i went with the V6. The V8 i was gonna buy was even cheaper then the 6. The 6 just looked nicer and i woulda rather had an 05+ rather then a 2003 gt.

My insurance is about $50 at least less than having the gt i was gonna get and it allows me to put the money into mods.

And a V6 modded can beat a stock GT regardless of whether the gt driver was bad or not. It just was who has more mods. you can youtube videos of real dynos of v6s. And dont shit on the V6ers parade.

Switch 10-10-2009 02:14 PM

V6s can be fast if you throw a lot of money at em, but anything can be made fast. It's cheaper to do a V8 build.

2K7MustangV6 10-10-2009 02:45 PM

CHEAPER yes... but the way i look at it your either paying for the HP in the sticker price for the GT or spending the money on mods. Next car im buying.. Shelby.. skippin the GT in the middle phase all together.. :D

drag_racer33 10-10-2009 03:39 PM

I had a wonderful chance to buy a dyno tuned (350 RWH) 01 GT for 5k thanks to the owners wonderful finance skills... but I didn't, why? Because when you are only 20 the insurace company assumes that even though i have never had any sort of ticket that i am a lunatic and give me $200/mo. quotes...

GDP 10-10-2009 05:27 PM

I should have gotten a V8 :( Oh well. I just gotta make this slow thing less slow lol. At least I will learn through the years what real power is slowly so I dont kill myself.

true to that :t: god bless the man who invented auto insurance?

The only comment my V6 draws is the usual: "sweet car dude ... I love your car!"

I guess someday, someone might say to me: hey you should have got the GT ... I imagine the conversation will go something like this:

him: you should have bought the GT
me: oh, I don't race mine ... how often do you race?
him: huh? I don't race it
me: what? you don't race it? so why did you pay more for a less realiable car (check the repair stats/ratings)? why pay more in insurance and gas?
him: well, it is way faster
me: I thought you said you don't race it?
him: well it is way cooler
me: why?
him: well, the V8 is bigger!
me: Ooohhh ... you are trying to compensate for a small penis ... I get it now ...
him: you are dick
me: oh, I'm sorry ... weren't you the one that started this conversation by ripping on my car?

My take on this,

I had to sell my 04 GT last october, i miss the hell out of that car. Xpipe, no mufflers, lowered, FRPP Mach 1 intake, CF mach1 hood, CAI, 4:10 gearing, Diablo sport tuner, frame stiffening and some appearance mods.

In the 4 years i had the car i never took it to the track that was less than 10 miles from my house, and the number of street races i participated in could be counted on a single hand.

IMO people who buy fast cars so they can street race have small penises.

Those who spend more money for a bigger engine and then work on it to make it faster and never race it are people who just appreciate the feel of extra torque and enjoy driving a powerful car.

you dont have to race to enjoy the extra power. That extra power is in it all the time, and you feel it all the time.

There are some posters on here with 6'ers that are real monsters. Teal Beasts 6er could probably take a 04 cobra without breaking a sweat.

but he also had to spend a shitload of money getting it to that point, if he would have invested that amount in a v8 it would have been even faster.

Not saying there is no point in boosting up a V6, but you cant really say that not racing a v8 is wasting it.

EDIT: That is a beautiful stang you go there BTW. Black FTW

SnTBakosFinest 10-12-2009 09:56 PM

Really? This thread is still going?

Ok, this is a simple concept. Ignore the asshats who want to say "shoulda bought a v8"

If you want a quick v6, DO IT. Don't spend time talking about it, do it.

If you want a car to look good, then just do the appearance stuff and be happy with it. Simple.

And for the guys who say its cheaper to modify a v8.. well..

The price of a forged shortblock, close to the same. Suspension, for the most part all interchangable. Transmissions, I prefer a 4r70w..same shit. Rear end, that'll cost a v6.

After you look at it though, you've already spent thousands, whats the point of tossing in a few more grand?

However this has to be taken into consideration, for the same amount of work put into the v6, if you transfer that work over to a v8, the v8 will be faster. If you're throwing boost at it, it'll take less boost, if you're throwing nitrous at it, it'll take less nitrous and the v8 will carry much more potential.

Everything still depends on how fast do you want to go, how much power do you want, and how much money do you have.

chriskbinns 10-12-2009 10:59 PM

agreed ...

Thanks ... and agreed ... I should qualify whom I assume "him" will be (since I have never met one) ... the guy who buys the GT just so he can look down his nose at people that own anything else IS wasting it (and his money) ... it won't give him what he is looking for (self esteem OR a bigger penis! )

In your opinion, yes it's more fun modding your V6, but how would you know what it's like to mod a V8? You don't know that it's not as fun. Doing all the basic mods is the same whether your doing it to a V6 or V8, except that the V8 will always be faster. If I had one, I'd definitely be boosting it, but I chose to get a GT cause I wanted to have that power stock while I saved the cash to mod. To each their own, but depending on year, it would take a significant amount of mods for a V6 mustang to beat a stock GT unless the driver sucked ass.

engineman312 10-13-2009 11:30 AM

u know whats fun?? spending half the money and getting twice the results. i've modded both types of engines, and the only reason i said "modding a V6 is more fun" is because i didn't know better.

Just takes a stock 3.8 split port and a little nitrous for a stock GT lol..

It took me a significant amount of mods to take a Cobra..I still won't get the MPH that they do though..

I'm paying $380/mo for my '09 auto sixxer insurance, I'm 20 years old. 380 was the cheapest I found, a lot of the insurance companies were trying to charge $500+/mo and I was just dumbfounded. I have no tickets, no accidents EVER and I even had defensive driver discounts applied (took the course for discounts)

It's gotta be an age thing I guess because my 26 year old friend that has a '04 cobra is only paying around $80/mo for insurance

krenogin 10-13-2009 11:44 PM

My quote is "shoulda bought a GTO"

Yeah, once you turn a certain age. Your insurance will drop a ton. I want to say either 21, 23, or 26.

Ok, well I was thinking more along the lines of the typical bolt ons, but you got me there. But all it takes a little nitrous on the GT to come right back. It's a matter of money and what you want to do with the car.

It drops once you hit 25. For my 2000 GT, I pay $73 a month for full coverage. If I went with an 03/04 cobra, it would only be about $100 a month.

BLazE 10-14-2009 06:41 PM

I hate you. Mine is $125 a month for just liability. I drive an 02 V6 :(

Please don't say that, it makes people my age all sad inside... I guess the bright side is though ONE DAY i will be able to afford the insurance...
