4.10 gears 7.5 read end??No?!?

alright well if im unable to find a 8.8, i still am able to put in 4.10's in the 7.5 posi correct? and everything will be okay correct?

Yeah you can put 4.10's or 3.73's in your v6 and add a posi (Ford calls their posi a traction lock or Tlok for short) and this would be good for a car with 300rwhp or less in my book. Hell Teal Beats almost 400rwhp TT v6 used his 7.6 with just a posi and 3.73's for a long time before it blew the posi up at the track with sticky tires.

So bascilly unless you plan to add a lot of power to your car and drag race it with sticky tires just get a posi and gears and don't worry about it.

And the 7.5 and 8.8 are not interchangeable with parts.

I know that the 4.10 gears will pull harder, but how much will the gas mileage suffer between the 3.73 and the 4.10's? also here is the same tracloc for a little cheaper than american muscle: http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS

I would get the tracloc from the website I posted to save some money, but other than that there should be no problems. If you are mechanically inclined, you can put them in yourself in a few hours. Just make sure to get the reccomended lube!

Yeah get the posi he posted because its cheaper, unless you must buy from AM.com then go for it. That and the posi listed will both work on your car. I would not install it yourself unless you have done it before or know whats up. And no offense from what you have said I think its better left to someone who has done it before. I destroyed my first ring and pinion setup I did because of bad backlash. Lesson learned and now I am better at it

After looking at some of the other posts, I agree that probiker should take it to a shop or mechanic to either install it or help install it (no offense bud). When I did my first rear end (in seventh grade) I forgot to put the gear oil in it. Bad idea.

The stock rear end is a 2.something (I forget and am too lazy to go outside and look) and non-locking. You can put the taller gears in, but I do not think that you would like what would happen, as it would still be an open differential. It is better to save up and replace both at once. But, you can do it if you want.

You don't want to pay someone to install a set of gears two times. Either do them both at the same time or don't do it at all. More gearing and an open differential like the v6 has means one wheel peel all over the place.
