K&N CAI

That's what I would do. What year car do you have? I love when you race someone, that rush you get, it's the best and makes you want more, but you have to know your limit.

Hm. Wtf is a gti mkv?
I have a friend that has a gti.....and I cant dust that car for ****. Its actually pretty damn quick. My buddy beat it with his 96 gt though. So that makes me feel better.

the K&N setup is alot more expensive than the other kits. I have the 75$ version. It should be just as good,, but the K&N looks better, if you have to have a brand name, go with the BBK version. you probably wont see a performance difference between all of them.

If a 96GT is faster than a 99+ v6 should be faster, Non-pi GTs are sloooow. lol

I have a 2006 V6 4.0L premium mustang. I have heard K&N CAI's are the best for mustang especially that's the only reason I am looking at them. Plus they are the only ones Ive heard that have a nice sound to them. Oh and yea i have borla's on my mustang already so I am hoping it will sound even nicer.
If not a CAI any other recommendations?.. since it seems to lack power for some.
Thanks for all the replies so far !

I would highly recommend www.VMPtuning.com they have a intake/tuner combo that makes power.
http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...=198&parent=92
He has gains of 25rwhp with his tune, intake, and just a GT muffler. Since you already have a axle back kit on then you are good to go.

I forget were i was reading but i remember distinctly saying that K&N's do not require a tune... is require the key word? I am not stuck between the 57 serieis K&N and the typhoon because i dont know the difference the 57 seems to give more power but yet the typhoon is more $$$. Or the BBK which i dont know anything about.

Hm..that mk4 is pretty gay looking.
My friends got an 03 gti with like..180hp lil less torue and he can still pull a 7 second 0-60. Im not too sure about a 99-04 mustang beating his car...I dont think it could happen. maybe 05+ could. Any v8 stang could take him easy, though.
And if those K&Ns really give you over 15 horses with a good tune, Id say get it, dude.

he must have some serious turbo lag with a major boost one it kicks in
99-04 GT's pull about a 5.5second 0-60
I raced a GTI not long after i had my 4:10s and killed the thing.

well the gti mkv got about 1 and 1/2 car lengths on me i saw him coming up on me pretty quick and he switched lanes and slows down right by me then he guns it by the time i realize he wanted to race he got the 1 and 1/2 car lengths. I was going about 30 once i hit 75 he was toast lol. thats how it all went down beleive me... or not . if he was all stock i had a good amount of horses on him so not to hard to beleive.
Only downside with my mustang atm is the speed limiter.. i always get dusted on the freeways by subaru's -.- a lot of them little bastards around here were i live lol.. 1-117 i got them though =P.

Actually...
If you read it again, I was talking about the 99-04 V6 mustangs not being able to beat the gti. I said any v8 mustang could beat it. I got a friend with a 96 gt, and another friend who borrowed his brother in lows s281 and they both beat him. by two or three cars in a 1/4 mile. I also stated that an 05+ v6 mustang could possibly beat it.

The good intake setups that make power need a tune because they flow so much more air then stock. Get the vmptuning.com setup and your car will be faster for sure. Justin is one of the best tuners around and is the number 1 guy when it comes to v6 power and tuning. He loves the v6 mustangs.
And those GTI's are not fast. I have a friend who had one modded could not take me even on a roll and off the bottle with his 300hp gti. Not impressed with those cars at all. He sold it and got a SRT4 instead to go faster.

I have been talking to Justin on the recomended site www.VMPtuning.com and am going to get my CAI and tuner this weekend, well purchase it that is. I am going for the C&L and the x3. Is there really a dif. between the two tuners offered? one is the X2 and the other is the X3. I am going with the X3 unless there is a major dif or something. Also ordering my BBK throttle body this weekend from AM! I will take pictures and post them once i get the products in and installed! I will do gears later. I have thought about it and want to do as much as i can myself and then have the shop put the gears and tloc in.

From the last things I heard they use the canned tunes from SCT. Where as Justin makes his own tune files from all the dyno runs he has done. I would rather have Justin's tune then there canned tune.
#29
justin is one of the best tuners in the v6 world, period. He is also well respected in any tuning venture he does.
canned tunes are crap. and it blows my mind how people will spend money on mods then skip out on the most important mod, the tune. you have a bad tune and your motor will wear down or will fail.
I use HPP out of lewisville, Texas which is 4 hours from where i live. I drive there for every tune. the best is the drive back when i know it was done right.
